I was looking at my scooter's engine today and I noticed alot of air flow around the carburetor. I finally pin pointed it down to this hole shown in the picture below... What is this..? whats its purpose? and is it supposed to be open and blowing air around..? Attachments:

Yes it is your cam chain tension-er and it is missing the O-ring and Screw: So take it all off and take it to the hardware store and get a SHORT screw and a O-ring that will fit. They do not sell those parts separately. Alleyoop

Thats funny I posted the same problem about 1 hour (4:05) before you. Small world. I wouldnt bother removing all the plastic to get to it. Simply take another crew off the scooter, ensure it is the correct size by checking the threads in the hole, and then take that screw with you to the hardware store. For curiosity, is yours also blowing oil out too? or just air?

The air circulates round the engine under the plastic covers. There's also a a lot of air coming from the vent/cooling tube from the cover on the other side of the carb.

I disagree. I removed all my plastics in an attempt to locate an oil leak. the only source of oil found was some small amount of oil that was in the blow bye that came out of this hole. Maybe I have another problem, but I grantee oil and air is blowing out of the hole, again w/o any plastics on the motor.
