So I can't my tail lights runner light to come on. Brake lights and turn indicators work throughout this whole mess, so we won't worry about that. It's a 150 gy6 Copy engine. All the tail lights wires are hooked up correctly but no running light. So I tested the running light wire and it has power where connected, so juice is flowing to that wire at the tail light. Just to make sure I I splieced the running light wire into my acc 12v ignition wire and viola the running light comes on......but then the headlight turns off. So I connected the headlight to the acc 12v wire and now both tail light running light and the headlight work. Ok good but.... With it setup like this, the lights drain my battery in 10 mins to about 7v. So that will not work. So I'm back to square one with all the wires hooked back up where the go to and tail light running light still not working eventhough there is power going to it......any ideeas?

probably a corroded ground/wire.

But the tail light and indicators share the same ground as the running light, and all of them work fine, so how could it be the ground

But the tail light and indicators share the same ground as the running light, and all of them work fine, so how could it be the ground could be any corroded wire within the circuit. i would check them all. for the record, i don't have experience with your problem. i did a quick search after seen this thread, many had same issue and a corroded wire was the culprit.

Checked them no breaks or shorts

The TAIL LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT ARE ONE of the same, so first check the bulb it has TWO FILAMENTS one for the Tail Lights and one for the Brake Lights. Also check the BROWN WIRE GOING into the SOCKET that is the one that feeds the RUNNING LIGHTS. THE GREEN and YELLOW is for your BRAKE LIGHTS and of course the all green is your ground. So simple test if you have a 12V LIGHT TESTER check the brown wire by the socket and see if it has voltage if so then its the BULB that is bad. Alleyoop Here is 12v Light tester they are very handy to have to test if you have voltage where you need it, only a couple bucks they are cheap.

Ok that's what I thought right, simple. Nope. I have a tester like that and even a powered one, but the running light wire has power going to it, but doesn't work when connected properly. I know that the light can operate both its running light and brake light at the same time. That is confirmed. I took the running light wire of the brake light and wired it to the black ignition wire and it turns on, both running and brake light. The problem is then the headlight running light won't come on. So the tail light running/brake both work, just not at the same time as the headlight. Us crazy loop where everything is grounded and everything has power even the running light but still doesn't workwith the headlight running light on

So it has voltage but I have also confirmed the bulb is not dead or running light fillament

Wait a minute you said REAR RUNNING LIGHT now your saying headlight running light on??? Are you trying to wire something up or what. Do you have a light switch you can turn on the lights and or instrument panels lights? Why would you take the take the wire from the running light and connect it to the black ignition wire?
And you say the brown wire has juice BUT WON'T WORK WHEN CONNECTED PROPERLY?? It should already be connected to the socket that the BULB goes into?? You are leaving a lot out WHY your having this problem. Alleyoop

Mine is a ruckus like custom build, it has a head light, front turn signals, a vaypor Speedo, and a turtlehead tail light(an led bar with running light, brake light and signals) that's all the lights. The reason I mention the headlight is we always have to have it on as a running light, but it turns off if I get the tail light to work properly(both tailight and running light working).........on the other side if I make the headlight work, the tail light running light will not work, however the brake light and signals still do work.
The reason I mentioned the ignition wire was simply to test if the running light does actually work and it is not burnt out or shorted out.....that test eliminates those possibilities

Have you tested your light switch? my lights do the same thing and i believe there is a short in my switch cause i can play with the switch to get both lights to work.

If your building you own custom job, then connect the headlights to the battery put a 10a fuse in line and have a toggle switch to turn them on. Then check your battery to make sure the R/R putting enough back and charging it with the headlights on.
What kind of stator did you get a 3 phase or a single phase stator, if you had a single phase and you put in a 3 phase that is what you would have to do anyway put in a switch for your headlights.
What color wires are coming off the stator and how many. Alleyoop
