we live in a gated community and the security guard had to manually open the gate for me late last night. i was riding in circles trying to trigger the sensor, lol. i don't want to be stuck at the gate every time i ride my scoot. anyone have problem triggering the sensor to open a private gate? is their a solution to this problem?

I have trouble with sensor operated traffic lights, and those sensor operated speed signs often don't notice me.
I think the sensors are generally pointed at the middle of the lane, where the middle of the car would be.

Rare Earth Magnet.
If you go online and buy a rare earth magnet of decent size it will trip loop detectors for stoplights and if your gate is on the same kind of system it will work for that too. You can get a good sized one for $10.
BTW....In Minnesota the law allows us to run a red if a motorcycle does not trip the light. I forget all the conditions but you must come to a complete stop, wait a reasonable amount of time, make sure it is safe to proceed, etc, then you can run the light, even turning left. I don't have the magnet yet so there is one particular light near me I just can not trip and use this law regularly but it is a low traffic area so no big deal.

Yea the traffic light i have to take to get to work usually there are no other cars there and the sensor will not pick me up. Most times i just run the light. Other times i just move my scooter around alot back and forth and usually i can trip the sensor

I am very interested in this suggestion of using a rare earth magnet. There are several stop lights on the way to work that will not change for me. Does anyone else have any experience in this working? If so, what is the best way and location to attach the magnet to my scoot?

It doesn't work. They don't detect magnetic fields just mass... There is a thread on hear about it. However installing the magnet might help some guys catch the parts falling off their scoots

At some lights just making sure that you are in the middle of the sensor loop cam make the difference along with just upping the idle for a few moments.

My small scoot doesn't pick up anything so I have to wait on someone to let me out. My 300cc scooter has no problem just on very old tragic lights where I can't hit the sensor good...but neither do certain cars I seen.
