I just ordered a bearing splitter and puller off eBay so I can do the same thing. I tried a 2 jaw puller, but it didn't want to stay on the backside of the gear due to the taper. Still waiting on them to come in bit.ly/19wthtnbit.ly/14yUwgu

I finally had some time to start taking out the engine.
I was able to take off the exhaust nuts and bolts, but i am having trouble getting the exhaust to come off of the studs. It can move around but will not drop down from under the engine. It seems like it should drop down easily but it doesn't.
Any suggestions on how to remove it without damaging the studs?

You've taken the bolts out from the muffler mounting points? I really didn't have any trouble getting mine off.

Yes, took off everything and the whole muffler is loose but it will not come loose from the studs on the engine... i cant figure out what is holding it.

[replyingto=t150]T150[/replyingto]I was able to get the muffler loose after wiggling it for about 20 min. in different directions. When i took off the muffler i did not see any gasket... interesting.
I now have the engine out and just need to get the rear tire off.
How do i know what gasket set size to order? I have seen several sizes available.

When I pulled the oem exhaust off in June 2012, I found no gasket. I got sheet of Felpro exhaust gasket material - with metal - and cut one myself. I have cut two so far. I need to get a new arbor for my 1" hole saw. I'd say a proper 150cc gasket should work. Scooter Elements has them on ebay I think.

I took apart the head and this is what i found... I'm assuming ther valve shouldn't look like this. Do i need to get a new head?

I had time to finish taking the engine apart and found that the crankshaft did have some play in the bearing on the cvt side.
Does anyone know where to get a replacement bearing set?
I have seen a crankshaft on scrappydog's website, but i wanted to know if there are any other options?
Also, has anyone ever had the valves turn white like the above pic? I'm going to change the head... but curious what might cause that.
Thanks

I got the whole thing put back together today!
One main issue was that the new head had a different angle for exhaust, so i had local shop cut and weld flange to the new angle on head.
Things i changed: Crankshaft and seals Piston and rings...just in case New head Cam chain tensioner Exhaust gasket And necessary gaskets for 57mm piston gy6b
Took it for a short test ride and all is well so far.
Thanks to everyone here and to bluefronts former posts on scootdawg

Congratulations. Glad you got it all back together and running.
How many miles on it when you pulled the motor? What are you running in the carb for jets?
Bluefront had the same problem with a new head. He slotted out the flange holes, and used a thick washer or something to span the gap and hold the exhaust tight.
I do wonder about that white valve. I do not recall ever seeing one like that on any vehicles I've ever worked on.

Jeepsteve- do you have the original air box or a uni filter? I wonder if bits of my uni filter caused the white valve. I have clesned it and re-oiled it, but it looks like it is deteriorating. I'm going to replace it with the dual stage uni and see how that holds up. I am at 4800 or so on the odometer. I have 108 jet and the original 35 jet I was blessed when my wife found this scoot for $600 brand new when tank was about to go out of business. I don't mind that i had to tear it down and learn how it works

I'm past 6500, Benn running a 110 jet and two spacers for the needle. Seems like a lot of carbon in the combustion chamber if you might be on the lean side, but maybe that explains the exhaust valve is so white. I was going to use a uni, but switched to a pod when I did the EFI conversion. I used the original filter and housing until I started the EFI.
I should see if my USB Endoscope will have a peak in through the spark plug hole.
I wish the upgrade parts were cheaper and easier to get, for the B motor.

I know it was not lean, everytime i checked the plug it was dry black... maybe it became lean at some point... but not sure what would cause the change.
How is the efi kit working for you? Also what type of pod filter?
I'm debating on what filter to put on it, or just go back to stock.
