When adding a extra base gasket how much does your comp.drop? I am at 220psi on a new never started motor. Its a AirSal 50mm 4stk.

[replyingto=dude]dude[/replyingto]I'll answer my own question. I added another base gasket (2 cheapes didn't measure them) went from 220psi to 195psi.I think the crank and starter will be happy. LoL

It will drop more after break in 195 is good ,compression drop values differ depends on gasket thickness compression was 195 on my tapout dropped to around 185 after break in my t3 compression is 200 will drop to around 190 after break in

[replyingto=dude]dude[/replyingto]Sounds about right...my 2T racing BBK had almost no squish band...head is literally flat except where the plug hole is. I was right at 230 as the kit came! Added a second head gasket and it dropped to 190. Still high and had detonation until I blended my own 'NASCAR' fuel with Xylene and pump gas. 'Ping' is gone and power is up.

Hello every one, Don't know how much extra base gaskets drop the compression, but I'm in the process of rebuilding Fawkes top end, and this time I'm adding that second one.

Had a lot of trouble starting him this winter, tried too light an oil, and my compression went from 205 to 120, and now he won't run at all.. Also my muffler studs came loose and i didn't know it so he burnt an exhaust valve too..
So I bought a NCY 50mm kit, and new 50mm head, instead of the 52mm.. I learned a lot from the first build, and I'm building pretty close to what Hank has... That second base gasket is very critical in easy starting.. Thanks every one nice to be back

That's why I'm downgrading him a bit, tired of always having to build parts to work. Would like to buy off the shelf like everyone else.. Do you have any pics of your build posted ? I would love to see them
