Hey Guys, I am working on my brother's scooter, a 2012 with QMB139. It doesn't start after it was stored for the winter. The battery is charged and the starter is turning. He didn't add stabil to the gas, so I decided to remove the carb and clean it. Well, look at the screws under the carb. There aren't any heads to the screws. Any of you guys have this problem? If so, what have you done? Thanks. Attachments:

Add 2 ounces per gallon of Berryman's Total Fuel System Cleaner to the gas tank and drain the bowl from the drain tube, crank it a few times, drain it and then crank it a some more repeating the process untill you have flushed the old gas from the lines and have the treated fuel in the bowl. Let it sit overnight and try starting it in the morning. Treat the next few tanks of gas heavy and then go to a regular monthly treatment. Next year use the correct treatment before storing the bike
Too many mess up carbs giving themselves a lot of grief tearing them down when a heavy dose of a good fuel system cleaner is all it might take.

I would replace it with an unsealed carb

Thanks guys for the response.
I think I will just buy a new carb, a shame since this one only has 300 miles on it. Since I am buying the car, I am now looking into a performance on since I am planning on installing a bbk kit.
Which performance carbs have you guys used?
Thanks again.

Sad part is...they are way to lean..and you can't fix it. You just ride a few hundred miles until the piston melts down or breaks.. I as many above..use a Dremel tool to slot them and change the jet main jet. Before a 'performance carb' will do any good...you need a performance engine. Otherwise it is like putting a Mustang 5.0 HO cam in your lawmower. There won't be a power increase...and you won't get it to run. ;D

no need for a bigger carb on a stock scoot 18-20 works fine and has better gas mileage, those flat screws can be slotted with a dremel and took out with a flat head screwdriver then get new screws at the hardware store done it several times when the customers didn't want to buy a new carb. Its best to get another carb since im sure it has no a/f adjuster either.

Thanks for all the responses. I never thought about the a/f mixture screw and didn't check for that. Since I was planning to install a 72cc bbk anyways, I ordered a new stock size carb and the Power Pack from Enviromoto.
I've built dozens of car engines, from a Jeep 4.5L stoker engine to BMW inline sixes, so after researching and watching the videos, hopefully this build goes without a hitch and I didn't miss anything unique with these engines.
Thanks again for the input.
