Also Check the WOODRUFF KEY it may be damaged and allowing the FLYWHEEL to rotate a little.
But you should be able to tell if the CHAIN is nice and tight when you have the valve cover off.
If not take the Tensioner out and see if you can push it up with your finger easly if so get a new tensioner. Alleyoop

When putting the cam chain tensioner in should i let the spring put pressure on it or can in push something in the whole to tighten up the tensioner before putting the screw and spring back in?

No, you do not add anything, test the tensioner with the spring on it and see if it is weak if so you need a new tensioner. Or you can maybe go to the hardware store and get a new spring that is the same size. I do not know what type of tensioner is on there but since you say it has a spring I assume it looks something like this: Alleyoop

Set it all back in time once more this morning just to make sure I didn't do it wrong yesterday and came out with the same result. It starts up fine and then after giving it a little gas it jumps time again. Did test the cam chain tensioner this morning also and it was working properly. May call the local shop to get a price on replacing the woodruff key. Ugh this thing has been a headache but in slowing figuring out the gy6 motor.
