Hello, I have a carb on my Chinese scooter and like most I believe that the mix screw was plugged. After doing some reading I saw that this was common so I went ahead and drilled out the plug. Once I drilled out the plug I could see a brass screw except it did not have a screw head, in other words it was just flat/smooth. Has anybody else run into this problem? I was planning on just getting a new carb anyways as I have a BBK installed until I discovered the plug. Thanks, Ronan
*I will try and add some pictures ASAP.

[replyingto=ronank]Ronan[/replyingto]Mine was the same way, I took an exacto knife and cut a groove in mine then used a precision screw driver and adjusted mine. Hope this helps you out, there is other ways but to me this was the easiest without messing up the threads.
Happy Scootin

[replyingto=gaddio]gaddio[/replyingto]Yeah I was thinking of doing that, I just wasn't sure if it might even turn but thanks, its worth a shot. Ill use the exacto knife tip, had not thought about that.

Here are some images if anybody is interested. *The circle in head of the screw is from drilling out the cap and as you can see when I was drilling out the cap a little piece of the housing around the screw came off.

&^%#$_+_& EPA is doing this to us. They have not figured out that different altitudes need different Air/Fuel mixtures.
I have also used a medical hemostat ( in the day called a roach clip LOL ) to get ahold of the brass and turn it out, then use a hack saw blade to make a slot for a screwdriver.

[replyingto=rapidjim]RapidJim[/replyingto]That's a good Idea, unfortunately I do not have a medical hemostat so I will have to etch the face and use a screwdriver carefully. But the Hacksaw bit is a nice touch. Ill have to do that once I take out the screw. Thanks all!

It's kind of hard to tell from the picture, but is the hole in the center a hex shape for an Allen wrench? How did the factory adjust the screw?

[replyingto=captonzap]captonzap[/replyingto]The whole you see in the picture is from my drill bit when I was drilling out the plug. The plug was very close to the head of the screw. As far as how the factory got it in, I am not really sure. Possibly some way to get it in from the inside when the carb is open?

Your over thinking how they did it at the factory they used a "ROACH CLIP" to screw it in Alleyoop

RapidJim Had mentioned that he had used one(a roach clip) to remove the screw. I cant seem to find a good image of one to understand how it grasps the screw as it is pretty tight against the walls with the threads. Do you happen to have a picture?

Sure here are some, you get them straight curved they are used to grab and or lock on say a vein or something to stop the bleeding or to pick up something small. Alleyoop
