If I may ask, whats it doing? (I too have the Roketa 257cc) You have to take bottom panel off on the muffler side.

Hi Rich...I went out to look at the bottom panel on the muffler side. Do you mean the panel that runs under the foot rest?

The idle screw on the carb needs ajusting you just lift up the seat then remove the screws and the battery and the carb screw is right there under the seat. If you want to take the carb off then you will have to remove the panels on the muffler side.

Ya, I own a Bali 250 scoot. Had to buy a special tool to reach the screw. You want to adjust the carb air flow, when the engine is running.

Yes, under the foot rest, if your running too rich, you want to turn the air/fuel mixture ratio screw a 1/4 turn clockwise in.

Well I think I am in deep trouble. I am not very good with the wrenchs and it took me 2 1/2 hours to get that lower left hand panel off. I will set aside 3 weeks to put it back on but I cannot even see the carb. up in that mess. Tomorrow I will take the seat and liner off and see if I can see the carb. that way. We finaly have nice riding weather in AR. and I have a pile of parts in my car port. Bad timing on my part.

Welcome to scootering the Chinese way ! These people must really Hate US I am dealing with my own pile of scooter parts in the driveway. Every time you change a lousy spark plug you have to call the President with these things. In other words, everything on these things is ten times harder than it has to be . And with just a little design forthought it didn't have to be this way.

Have you guys see under the hood of a modern car lately? These scooters might take a little work to get to some things, but most modern cars are 10 times worse. Most V6 cars you have to have extreme yoga flexibility to get to the rear spark plugs after removing half the engine crap. I had all the panels off the back of my 250B this weekend and it took me about 20 min to put it all back. I could see from the radiator back, bare frame.

Are all schooters built like this Roketa? It runs very well and I love it but when I throttle down it dies. I have developed a way to hold a small amount of power to over come that but I would like to adjust the carb. I have a friend that was, for 30 years, an aircraft mech. in the USAF and can fix anything and he will fix my carb. if I can get to it for him. I will keep all of you posted before I eat my 38 S&W.

Sorry to tell you taildrag, If it is a Linhia 257cc powerplant you have it will likely need a valve adjustment to make it stop stalling at slowdowns and Idle. Its just the nature of this engine it seems. And from what I've heard most of the 250 Rocketas and 250 JCLs have these Linhia motors. Its the 250 motor with the cylinder lying down instead of being vertical. Great motor IMHO otherwise. But this is one glaring fault they have. Some say once you do it a couple times they stop needing it so often. But I havn't got to that point yet so no comment.

Oh, And hey Oldmopar. Speaking of Mopars, Its not just late model cars. Have you ever had to give a 1969 Plymouth Fury with the regular 383 a tune up ? Theres 1 or maybe even 2 sparkplugs it is damn near impossible to get out and replace. So bad that 99% of mechanics never replaced those plugs when giving that car a as said tune up. I remember finally getting them out and the whole electrode and all would be burned off from never being replaced.

If you have the same scoot as mine, I can take off the bottom side panel in arounf 5 minutes.
