I just bought a Peace Renegade 50 off a friend with the intention of doing some upgrades, customizing it a bit ect. After a couple weeks of reading I think I know what I want to do, but I have some questions about what would be the best order to do things in.
So far I am thinking: New cdi and coil New exhaust New air intake system New carb (what size should I upgrade too) BBK (80cc or 100cc)
What order should I do the upgrades in?
I'm not sure what size BBK to go with. For where I live right now it would be nice to hit 45 on hills (not really steep, but steep enough), but when I move to college in August I'll be in a city where 35 would probably suit me fine most days. Originally I saw the 80cc BBK on scrappy dog. I was adding it to my shopping list, but then I saw the 100cc BBK on ebay that comes with the new exhaust and everything too. It's a better deal but I've read about people have problems when they go past the 80cc (or 72cc) BBK. I'm not 100% sure if I really need the 100cc. That's why I am asking questions!
Also I don't have an abundance of mechanical skills. Most of what I know is just computer mechanics. (I build some fine computers). Is there anything that is fairly difficult to install that maybe I shouldn't attempt myself, or is it all okay as long as you pay attention to what you are doing and meticulously check yourself. Don't be an idiot, ect.
I already put in a NKG spark plug, going to do a better belt sometime soon.
Thanks in advance.

I have the same one the renegade 50 its a 2012 I was like you I bought the stage3 from scrappy with the 100cc bbk I bought the big bore head which i dint care for much and am going back to the stock head for the more compression i got the 20cc carb and all worked ok for the muffler I took the stock one and took the chrome pieces off and ay the end of the muffler i ground off the weld and its like a cap i then cut off the muffler to approx 8in and put 3 3/16 holes in the cap coming into the muffler from the pipe then reinstalled the rear cap back on and it made alot of differance thats what, ive done to mine the kits are pretty easy to install the speed limit in my town is 35 but its nice to have the power to take off and keep up with traffic

I used to own a 2010 renegade 50. It was red. They are not bad little scooters for the cheap.
The cheapest performance upgrade you can do is to change roller weights in the variator. Lighter rollers will help on the hills, heavier rollers will give a little more top speed. A cheap tachometer will be a good investment and will help diagnose engine performance.

Thanks. I'll look for cheap tachs or see if my uncle has one layin around (he's a harley mechanic). Lucky for me my uncle said he'd teach me to install anything I needed for free. So now I just need to decide what I want to buy. Adding roller weights to my list.
Should I go with the 80cc or 100cc bbk?
And does anyone know if the air filter scrappydog sells is any good? Or should I just get a uni from somewhere else.

Does a better spark plug make these run better?

I don't know if it makes it run better, but I don't trust the spark plug it came with. Definitely putting a better one in it.

I'd save your money on buying the CDI and Coil. They don't really make any difference unless you go with an expensive one and even at that it might not be noticeable. (NOTE:If you have a CDI with a limiter in it then an aftermarket one will make a difference)( As far as what order to do it in you really should do them all together. Otherwise your going to have to keep buying different jets each time you do a differnt mod. I'd go with -100cc BBK -Some type of free flow air filter -20mm carb (If you really want to upgrade it. It's probably not really necessary) -Cut your exhaust open and take some of the baffles out and put a bigger tip on it then weld it back up. Its way cheaper and works better than performance exhausts you can buy off the internet IMO -# or #92 Jet -6.5 or 7gram roller weight -Get a good belt too (You'll be replacing them a lot if you have cheap ones)

80cc bbk preformance variator upjet carb
That's all you need to do.
CDI Coil not needed. Air flow increase, remove tube inside stock air cleaner. Leave Muffler alone.
She will run strong and fast and won't blow up right away.

She will run strong and fast and won't blow up right away. I have to agree with this. My trike came with a 80cc (actual 72cc) engine, a 19mm carb with a 28 idle jet and a 80 main jet. Every thing else was stock and it ran good and strong. I did open up the air filter and put larger jets in the carb though. I ended up with a 32 idle jet and a 82 main jet. Roy

She will run strong and fast and won't blow up right away. Thats always nice, lol. Thank you for all of your input. I'm keeping all of this in mind. Definitely wont include the CDI and coil on my list anymore, not until much later anyway. Will I be able to hit 45 on hills with the 80cc? Me and all of my stuff I transport around (text books, blech) weighs about 170 pounds. So basically the main thing I need is just the 80cc BBK and then to upjet my carb? And open up my airfilter? I really just want a different muffler for louder sound. Lol.

I put a stage IV performance kit from scrappy on my renegade 50. The 24mm carb was a little to big and I had a hard time tuning it. I went back to a 19mm carb. and stock head , it ran like a scalded ape.

Scaled ape isn't a metaphor I'm familiar with. As of right now I'm just doing the 80cc kit, I probably will buy a UNI and exhaust, just because I want one. With the 80cc (72cc) a better air system and an exhaust will the main jet be good?

Might want to get a few jets between 82- , or a kit to play around with. There is to many variables to give a definit answer, air flow in and out, the size of carb., elevation, temp, ect. Doing a plug chop is the best way to tell if the engine is running at peak performance. Roy
