I have seen numerous scooter ride videos on you tube and other forums. How are they being shot? Is there a special camera mount that you can get to attach to the scooter somehow? I would love to be able to take a video of a ride over our dam and lake here this summer.

I got an Emerson Action Cam at Big Lots on sale for $40. It came with a helmet mount, and a handlebar mount. The helmet mount was designed for a bicycle helmet, with a mounting strap that would loop though the air vents on the helmet.
I mounted it with the handlebar mount to my mirror stalk, since I don't have any handlebar real estate on my scooter. There was so much engine and road vibration that the videos were unwatchable.
So, I put some velcro on the bicycle helmet mount, and on the top of my helmet. I haven't tried it out yet, but it should work OK. I think I will tie a cord to the camera and loop it through the D rings on the helmet chin strap, just in case the wind blows it off.

If I want a stationary camera here is where I mount it, other wise I have several what they call mini spy cameras that I velcro to my shield or one of my sport cameras that you mount on the side of a helmet. Alleyoop

You can get a keychain or gumstick cam for less than ten bucks and slide it between the top of your earpad and upper part of your helmet; looks everywhere you do, stays out of the weather, doesn't get all the wind, only small risk is if you have an accident, there is a tiny percentage of a chance that it gets lodged into your brain, which isn't all bad; who couldn't use a video recorder in their brain?

I run a gopro with a chesty.... Makes some pretty good video. Here's a tip, if you want to mount to the handle bars and have watchable video, get a low definition point and shoot that does video... Like a Kodak 182 or similar. They don't have as much "shutter roll" (that jello look) and put up with the vibration quite well. The Kodak 182 is an older cam, but it's tough as nails and works most excellent.
Here is a ride video that I did for my buddy and me.
Back facing shots where done with the Kodak on a pedco ultra mount, the front facing shots were done on a go-pro with a chest mount.
