Just got a new Tao Tao 150cc Eagle (Lancer) about 4 days ago. After following suggested PDI getting the bike fueled up and engine oil replaced and gear fluid I began the initial break in period. Right away I have had problems with the idle speed. While engine is cold if idle speed is too low it wont start... So I have had to turn it way up then it starts. Once the engine warms up then the idle speed is too high and I have to turn it back down to 1500 rpm. Called the tech support and they said they just gonna send me a new carb but didn't explain why or what the problem was. Now once I have the engine warmed up and idle speed set to 1500 rpm and throttle it up and go for a ride I run into a new issue where the rpms jump up to 5000 and hold there at only 20mph. Can anyone explain why that is and what I need to do to fix it? Or is that normal? I am afraid to take it any faster due to such high rpms and the red line is at 8000 so I can only imagine how high the rpms would be if I tried to take it to 40-50mph.

Adjust idle RPM on a warm engine.
Carb enricher increased cold engine RPM. Clutch may engage, which is why you should ALWAYS start engine while on center stand with rear wheel off the ground.

I don't know what language that was in on the video but I am assuming I might have an issue with the automatic chock? As for setting the idle when the engine is warm I did do that. But once the engine cools down it wont start unless I increase the idle speed back up and wait for it to get hot again before I readjust the idle speed back down.

It sounds like your autochoke isn't working properly. Watch this video: itistheride.boards.net/thread/8355/gy-6-autochoke-works-testingWhat about the throttle cable? When you twist the handle and release it from various positions from 1/4 to a full twist, does it always rotate back to the idle position?

the idle adjustment is just a throttle stop you can do exactly the same thing by giving the throttle a 'little' gas when you start it and its pretty much normal to have to do that when you have a few miles on

Yes it does. Seems to spring back quite well.

Save yourself the headache and replace the carb with a good one. I got tired of carb issues and spent the extra money for a keihin. Never had a problem with it again
