I'm sure they'll find people willing to spend that much for a 29.8 mph scooter.....but I won't be part of that group. Totally happy with what I have.

There are some affordable e-bikes out there with performance comparable to a 125-150cc scooter. One is the Onyx RCR 72V (according to their website). onyxmotorbikes.com/#rcr

I agree with most of the above... TOO expensive and TOO slow! WAY too expensive and WAY too slow... If I really wanted minimal transportation, I'd build a motorized bicycle and get it titled.
And while I do like Vespas in general, for THAT money I'd buy one of their high-end larger displacement scoots. They're STILL too expensive, but at least they're not so slow... LOL!

At that price you could buy a slew of China 50cc scooters and rotate them. Even a 50cc Piaggio Fly with four valves is under $2500. I guess they think if they can sell the Vespa 946 at ten and a half grand with a 150cc engine they can sell anything.

Have a bone on the Old Chopper Guy!I've ridden Vespas, and do like them... That said though, there is a point where things are SOOOO over-priced ( especially that red ten-grand 150) that it makes NO sense to choose them over a good alternative at many times less money! Eight years back, while looking for a used scoot, I found a Vespa 300 in MINT shape with only 500 miles on it. The owner was "scared" of its acceleration (good grief!) and offered it for $2,000. I only declined as it just felt a little too small for me... Shoulda bought it and re-sold it! LOL! At least around here, Vespas don't seem to bring much more used than other (non-Chinese) brands. Doesn't speak well for their re-sale value, but does make for a good scoot at an affordable price!

Agreed. By the same token, if green energy is your priority, there are far more affordable electric powered options available. You could spend the savings from the purchase of a cheaper e-scoot or e-bike on a solar generator and/are or wind generator system with batteries. It wouldn't provide enough power to go off-grid, but it would reduce your electric bill and provide an emergency power source (for those of us in hurricane country and tornado country).
Whether you are a scooter enthusiast or an environmentalist (or both), its difficult to consider the Vespa Elettrica very desirable at that price.

Just think people who spend 150,000 or more on coaches really don't care of cost if it meets there means NO ?
