Hello, I've never posted but have been around here a bit. So I have a new to me scooter. It's a Peace Transit 50. I know there is a BBK on it, unknown manufacturer. I'm assuming the main jet was never changed. (It runs ok until it gets hot and if I need to restart it just won't fire up, the electric choke thing appears to be working correctly other posts suggest a larger main jet, so that's on order) When I hit a hill going 40 it slows way down to 20-25 and that's it.
Here is the kicker I weigh 330lbs. What can I realistically make this poor beast of burden do? I'd hate to have to carry the thing to the top of each hill.
I'm sure changing the weights is something I should try or should I change out the Variator and the weights?
Thanks for the input.
I've lost 65lbs I have more to lose so that will be a free upgrade i'm sure.

Change out weights and springs in the CVT, I'd suggest a tuning kit then order appropriate sized weights/sliders. And for springs I always use the orange/yellow 1500s, but there are no steep/large hills in my area.
Don't forget with a BBK the jets need changing and the intake/exhaust too, otherwise you're starving the engine of vital air. Like everything else, they gotta BREATH!
The more air in&out each cycle, the more power its capable of producing.

Ok when was the time or have you ever Addicted the Valve Lash? Your description sounds like a classic case of the Exh Valve Lash closing up once hot, then when cool she's fine. If she won't fire or very hard starting once hot you got got other problems than the jetting being off.

I keep forgetting not everyone does that every other oil change like I do. Lol.

Thanks for the input I'll be working on the scoot tomorrow, my Jets should be here.
I will double check the valves. I did the Valve adjustment the other day .004 for both intake and exhaust. It's tapping a bit so I'm going to go down to .003 to hopefully quiet that a bit. I have not had to use a feeler gauge for a while either so I might be off even though I measured after tightening, it's running so much better than when I got it. Because it wasn't.
I forgot to say the starter seems to spin a slow compared to my Kymco cobra the battery reads 12.3V ish but if I jump it, it does spin a bit faster but still doesn't want to start.
So once I get the hard starting fixed should I start with installing lighter rollers next?

Do the contra and clutch springs first, otherwise you'll end up re-doing the roller weights again afterwards...

OK this may sound weird but, I actually made the gap smaller on the intake .003" and left the exhaust .004" checked loosened and reset. the bike starts when hot. While I was at it I figured I have the socket on my drill looked at the belt looks like new,but the clutch pulley has a big old ding in it on the outside edge going in maybe deforming it for a 1/2" to 3/4" (maybe someone was trying to pry something?) will that affect my hills or just low speed take off.
Contra and clutch springs are on order maybe arriving tomorrow?
Jets arrived is there a consensus on jet to go with a BBK? I'll also search the forum but it looks like at really varies.
You guys have been very helpful.
Thank You

You got a 50 with a bbk on it so its in all reality an 80 and it does 40 with a 330 pound man on it?,,,adjust the valves and call it a deal,,,don't Fuk with it,,,it's just the valves closing up when hot and the exhaust valve is hanging open a bit so hence the no start when hot as pistondude said

It did it again almost seems like it might be the petcock, perhaps when I work it to hard maybe there is not enough vacuum shuts off burns whats in the fuel bowl and sputter sputter out. If I catch it early I can keep it going.
