I've been riding a Thunder 50 for about 3 years. Came here for some guidance and ideas on doing work on it myself. Grateful for any help you all can provide.

Has the TaoTao Thunder 50 been relatively reliable . . any significant deficiencies or maintenance issues? 139QMB engine performance enhancements typically degrades reliable! Unless this is a liquor-cycle situation . . consider replacing with a larger displacement Bintelli or Lance.

Unless this is a liquor-cycle situation . . consider replacing with a larger displacement Bintelli or Lance. It's been very reliable 15k miles and have never had to do any work on the engine. I do faithfully change the oil every 500 miles and rarely run it wide open. Thanks for the suggestions.

139QMB engine big-bore-kit installations appear to have a "reliability consequence" . . so many "installed a BBK and now" (fill in deficiency) postings! The BBK mentality seems to be all about "gaming the system" . . scheming to elude getting a motorcycle endorsement and paying for insurance.

On my two trips to Myrtle Beach I saw a herd of Chinese 50s. Most were rentals but there were many that were privately owned. High mileages on Chinese 50s are probably a common occurrence there.
