www.cycleworld.com/2018-kymco-spade-150-xciting-400i-abs-xtown-300i-abs-like-150i-abs-first-ride-reviewThe Spade is hot but get this!! The Xciting 400i’s most Xciting feature may be its price. At $5,999, it’s two grand less than the Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS and much cheaper than the Burgman Executive ($10,999, no ABS), Honda Silver Wing ABS ($9,270), and Yamaha TMAX ($10,490, no ABS).And this! the Xtown 300i ABS is an attractive, if less exciting, option. This is the workhorse of the group, designed to transport you cheaply and efficiently while commuting or on weekend tours. For $3,999, you get a previous-generation, 276cc 2-valve single making a claimed 23 hp at 8,000 rpm and 16.6 lb-ft. of torque at 6,500 rpm.You have to know at those prices the scooters are built in China, BUT who cares! The Kymco 300 under cuts a Vespa Primavera by $1000. Screaming bargains.

w650, NICE POST! Have a bone on the old chopper guy!Obviously, I'm a major Kymco fan, and these new models look like they will have a ready market! That "Spade 150" is the perfect "bike" for the rider wanting the small, handy 150cc class ride, BUT wants a true "clutch n' gears" motorcycle. To old geezers like me, it's the "Cushman Eagle of the new millennium" and THAT ain't BAD! A REAL scooter-sized MOTORCYCLE.The "Like 150" is right there in the Vespa class, and sharp! I test rode one WAY back when they first came out and "liked" it a lot. Seemed to be a lot faster than typical 150's, and if I recall, it originally had a 163cc motor, badged as the "Like 200". Old motor though with carb and single cam. The 300 and 400 "biggies" have plenty of appeal for the rider wanting a larger scooter for the road. Sorry to see the "My Road 700cc" twin gone though. It just did not sell, and I can't imagine why. Kymco seems to be adept at "pulling a rabbit out of their butt" when new models are needed... LOL! I do think these 12" wheel little motorcycles will find a strong market among today's riders. New models for a new market. I still love my now-REALLY-outdated Grandvista... It combines the retro look of the "Like" the 12" wheels of the "Spade" and with 19.5hp and a wet weight of 260-pounds, it probably has performance similar to the new 300. All THAT in one aging old lady of the road... NEW is swell, but OLD still gets me down the road... LOLWonder what SYM will come out with now? SYM makes some slick rides, though around here at least SYM is a rather obscure brand. Again, NICE POST! Leo (ridin' vintage Kymco) in Texas

For the difference in price, you could buy a K-pipe.

This quote from Motorcycle.com made me giggle. For Piaggio this must be annoying. It’s the Like 150i ABS, a product that clearly takes aim at Vespa’s Primavera (and Sprint) 150. It offers similar performance, safety and style, but at just $2,599 is half the price of its Italian cousin’s $5,099 MSRP.www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/kymco/2018-kymco-like-150i-abs-review.htmlThe Chinese all but own the 50cc market and the Taiwanese are beating Piaggio's doors down with this and the SYM Fiddle III in the under 200cc market.

Yeah well, considering how overpriced Vespas are (and with Kymco's quality on these models being very good} they had it coming.

Yeah well, considering how overpriced Vespas are (and with Kymco's quality on these models being very good} they had it coming. Heck, even my BV was cheaper than a Vespa. Piaggio's self-competing, ha. Of course, those who want a Vespa WANT a Vespa, regardless of extra price. >'Kat

I've never understood the philosophy at Piaggio. To me the pressed steel frame on a Vespa against the tube frame on a Piaggio is a non issue. They both have the same engines. Why would you cough up five grand on a 150cc Primavera when a Three thousand dollar Fly 150 sports the same motor. The engine is what gets you down the road not the frame or supposed "Mystique". In my mind the total buy in this class comes from Taiwan. Either the Like or 168cc SYM Fiddle III or Lance scoots (PCH, Havana, Cali Classic) make the most sense.

It's that panache thing all over again and again,,,why would anyone pay. $5000+ for a Vespa or basically north of $11,000 for the big burg when a gently used Yamaha fz6 with very low miles can be had for well under $4000 on CL,,, and the fz would kill the others stone cold dead,,,,and any Harley also except the vrod in a drag,,,once in the twisties the fz would kill the vrod too

Remember designer jeans? When people paid 500 bucks for what essentially was a pair of Levi's?... Snob appeal Kat. What do you mean "remember"? It's still going on, spandi. Last month our news told about the $400 (or was it $800?? too early to recall for sure) jeans with "mud" pre-smeared on them. I think they were marketed as dirty jeans, and were actually selling. People are stupid. >'Kat, wishing those stupid folk would toss a few hundred dollars my way--I promise I won't waste them

No. An FZ6 is a motorcycle and a 650 Burgman is a scooter. They appeal to different people. The Burgman has an automatic transmission and appeals to the person who wants two wheels while maintaining the operating ease of his car. The motorcycle appeals to the person who enjoys feeling connected to his machine while feeling the surge changing gears brings.
Despite the various writings I've seen a 650 Burgy is no performance machine. Zero to sixty takes 8 1/4 seconds and it weighs a stout six hundred pounds. It is, however, an excellent device for those who eschew shifting and want a solid machine under them. As an aside the 650 Versys, with a twin cylinder 650cc engine too, will reach sixty in half that time. It's no crotch rocket and owners commute and tour America on them all the time.
Different strokes for different folks.
