I am at a 1000 ft elevation and we have some good hills in PHX My carb is the stock setup for sea level so it came out just fine With my pod filter and micro exhaust giving it more air flow Still a little rich when cold though

"As of July 1, 2016, North Carolina law requires that all registered mopeds have liability insurance coverage with limits no less than $30,000/$60,000/$25,000. Failure to maintain liability insurance coverage constitutes a lapse and may result in the revocation of your valid North Carolina license plate." . . source I stand corrected. They still have No insurance as they have No License to have Revoked. Meth Heads, Heroin Heads and Drunks. they are Not at all judgemental when it comes to people who ride scooters in NC? Thank you very much. I ride a scooter because I choose to. Yes, I have a valid NC drivers license, and insurance. Not all scooter riders are Meth heads, heroin heads and drunks. That would be like me saying that all men are a-holes.

Oh jeez, all offended and your panties in a wad, I own and ride a 150cc Scooter for pleaser and hobby and Im not a Doowie offender or heroin head. Ive had a MC endorsement for 41 years Ive lived in NC for 3 years and 7 months and have yet to see a 49cc Scooter owner in Randolph county that hasn't lost his license due to multiple offenses, It still get cold down here and the Saps are out on them in the winter with there Carharts on in the freezing rain not because they love riding because they have lost there license, there Scooters are also the worst maintained vehicles on the road. I would bet you couldn't show me close to 1% of 49cc owners in NC that there only mode of transportation is a 49cc scoot because they choose too. It is what it is, deal with it....... Peddle Faster those are Banjos you hear.

So what I want to tell you is DO NOT MOD your scooter! I was SO pissed at myself. It ran totally perfect before. All I really wanted was quicker acceleration and I could have totally taken care of that with rollers, springs and clutch... a great lesson for all the newbies. altering the jet size is a little more complicated than simply replacing the old with the new. i don't recommend it at all unless you plan on getting a big bore rebuild kit.

Good advice for a Newbie. The Kids credibility wen right out the window as soon as he stated he tried to Mod the Stock Exhaust. that amounts to Hacking its Guts out, if he had a Clue he would have noticed the Exhaust Port is Larger than the Head Pipe. She's farting thru a Straw, Hacking the Stock Exhaust guts out and using the Stock Head Pipe would accomplish one thing, he turned it into a Noise maker. Then when it came to jetting he had no clue what he was doing, Just a Barn Yard Butcher.. The CVK Carb is extremely forgiving and Easy to tune, you can make fairly drastic changes and she will still go down the road. It just doesn't get any easier than working on a GY-6 150cc scoot with a CVK carb. Thousands of us have very successfully installed a Free Flow Exhaust and Uni Air Filter with jetting changes with No issues. If one does a Free Flow Exhaust with a Un-Filter Jetting is Required. This kid should have to take a aptitude test and get a license to purchase tools. Hes in No position to be giving others advice of any kind.

If none of your friends and family are mechanically inclined, your only option is to learn the hard way and screw up a few things. A China scooter is great for that, since replacement parts are affordable. -With our help, the newbies will get the hang of it instead of giving up on the hobby. -I am just happy when I see a young (or older) guy that is willing to pick up a wrench and try something.

the thing about OEM jetting is, it's made with the idea that the stock airbox and muffler will be installed.
also, the type of carb used makes it hard to use lessons learned from car type of carbs.
a car type of carb will typically need rejetting at higher altitudes whereas a scooter type of carb might not.
i never messed around with the jetting on my ride. it came with a uni filter, but i switched to a stock airbox when the filter element began falling apart. the bike seemed to run and sound better after the switch.
but wheelbender is right, i can't think of a more perfect thing than a chinese scooter when it comes to learning how scooters work.

Your end result is one of Complete lack of Experience and understanding what your doing. Thousands of us have had very successful Intake and Exhaust mod's. My mod was very successful gain in acceleration and mph along with mpg. 1st. the notion that you can buy one main jet and end up with Correct Jetting is Absurd, You will need Several Main's and Several Pilot jets and a Needle Jet clip position change to obtain Ideal Jetting, Hard to find any two Scoots that will take the exact same jetting. 2nd. On the Exhaust, there are many good vendors out there, Do your research and Pick up the damn phone and confirm fitment and if its a Free Flow System maybe too loud for you. I agree with the above... Your frustration is not justification to put someone off of modifying their scooter. I'm by no means a professional mechanic, but I've learned a lot by doing all of my own work, screwed thing up and tried again and would never have learned anything if I read and headed posts like this. But there is something said to leaving well enough alone. A lot of people want to push the limits without knowing what they are doing. I think a lot is hype from scooter parts sellers to sell more parts for more $$$ without adequate explanation of what so called; "Performance" parts require in additional modifications and make it sound like add this and you'll go faster as if it were just a plug and play scenario.
