howdy, i am impressed with the content and attitude of your advisors' comments. if you follow thier advice you will stand a good chance of living old enough to have a grey beard like i do. there is one thing i'd like to suggest that they have already alluded to and that is. watch some video of a race such as isle of mann racing and note the techniques you see of the successful racers. then find a large, large empty lot or wide empty road and practice some of those techniques for cornering because, some day you will be riding along doing something important in you mind such as calculating the odds that the seahawks will win the super bowl and you'll find yourself entering a 30 mph corner at 70 or so. about halfway through you will adopt that good technique you were learning or find yourself as a roadside ornament. i think you have already experienced some of that.

howdy, i'll ressurect this thread with comment about cf moto. i followed someones' link to look at the symba and found a sym dealer about 40 miles from me in portland. so i rode up just out of curiosity and he didn't have a symba in stock but had three sf moto with water cooling and fuel injection. they were actually nice looking scoots. he also carries hyosung which makes some cruiser looking motorcycles that look monstrous. anyway

howdy, it's my understanding that the police officers are instructed and practice laying their bikes down and climbing on top as being generally the action that gives you the best chance at survival. as someone above said, there is no substitute for playing out all scenarios with what action you plan to take. as a driver with more than 2 million miles in every kind of vehicle, that is what i do instead of listening to what passes for music on the radio.

DX after riding it as much as you have , you will have a feel for how it sounds and feels and smells. it should be fine for 65 mph constant speed all day for days on end. however, you might want to seek advice on what tools and supplies you might need to take along for the problems common to those particular scoots. i personally would not start on a long trip without having a back-up plan when something un-repairable breaks. as i have stated, if my scooter fails to go , i will ride my credit card home---and use my phone to repair it if necessary or transport it home. the logic continues, i would not start if financial resources were inadequate to finnish under all circumstances. 'nuff said

howdy , the picture that did make it in was the halfway point between bend and burns --in the desert and closed because it was sunday.
by the way it was 110 degrees when i got to meridian idaho with three days of record heat.

howdy, here's a late write up of trip from woodburn oregon to boise idaho. i left the morning of july 1st ,sunday, and rode in good weather to the dam that backs up detroit lake and stopped for a break and a couple pictures, then a few miles through beautiful forest to detroit where i had a stop for coffee and breakfast. that was 50 miles or so into the trip. then saddled up for the ride on highway 22 and 20 to sisters oregon way high in the mountains. i put some fuel in there cause they had non ethanol. then on to bend which was about 120 miles into the days journey. the last fuel stop indicated 130 miles to the next fuel and it was sunday so i topped up with the 70 cents worth to full and headed 'cross the desert. about halfway across , there was a little convenience store closed and i stopped and got a pic. i've been trying to insert them sithout success. on to burns and i stayed in a motel that said there was a steakhouse next door. that turned out to be a place similar to a bowling alley. NOT a stuart anderson black angus steakhouse. the steak was however, good but expensive. the following morning , after an overnight thunderstorm, i headed east and within a few minutes the thermometer on the scoot was reading in excess of 100 degrees air temperature. when i got to the oregon line town of nyssa and fueled i had gone 134 miles from burns. after resting i fired up the scoot to find that it was running ragged and died at the first stop sign. the next time i slowed down the check engine light came on and i stopped and checked the oil which was fine. frome then to meridian every time i let off the throttle the check engine light came on and it ran ragged. i checked in to a motel there and the next morning checked the coolant which was low. i put some distilled water in but that didn't stop the light from coming on. the total mileage to that point was 450 miles. i figured i would go to the dealer there in meridian only to find out they had stopped handling or servicing piaggio and in fact there was no dealer in that whole region. it was an interesting trip on a route i had never taken before. stay tuned and i'll get back with the return trip beginning the following saturday. i'll see if i can figure why i haven't been able to insert pictures.
