Where in KS are you? There's lots of scoots listed on KC's CL. Including this one--http://kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/3736832074.html If I didn't own my Piggy I'm be hopping on this shark! Or this guy will trade for a car/truck--http://kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/3736329885.html Moving up to a big boy S'wing--http://kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/3706176732.html Finally, a Kymco 250--http://kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/3723173186.html Btb, if your wifey isn't hot on you riding a scooter, why is she good with you on a motorcycle? Just wonderin'..... >'Kat I am about an hour West of KC. Thanks for the links, I will check them out. As for the wife and the scooter thing, it is an image thing I think. When we got together, I was always around muscle cars, motorcycles, garages, etc. I have always liked the fun, quirky things too though. I just like scooters because they are cheap(er), easier to ride, etc. I am on the fence about selling my Harley, which I am sure is not a popular decision, but I haven't ridden it since Sturgis (August) and am really not going to see a lot of use on it this year. I hate to have $10k (plus insurance, tags, taxes, maintenance, etc) tied up in something that just sits.

We had 77 two days ago. It is 36 now with a high of 43 later. In 2 more days we have an expected high of 75, then it drops off again...argh.

I can definitely see that. I am trying to weigh how much I would ride it, how far, and what I would expect to get out of it. They kymco I had was great bc I had to take the interstate to work, but I don't necessarily have to do that anymore, so a smaller one may be sufficient.
I just didn't know if there were any trusted Chinese brands/online dealers at this point or not.

In very, very few circumstances, and I would probably just take a shoulder. Traffic would have to be at a dead stop for an extended period of time. So, I guess my answer is probably not. In general, I don't think people are good drivers anyway, so this would be putting a lot of trust in their hands. Couple that with the number of people that you would make mad, and it doesn't make a lot of sense.
I would find it hard to believe that insurance would allow this to be legalized without a fight. If it were legal, you would have people that would be inexperienced, dare devils, or just bad riders that would try it and inevitably there would be an increase in accidents, claims, and I imagin hit and runs. As a car driver, I would be beyond pissed if a bike came through and took off a mirror or scratched my car just because they were doing something convenient for themselves.

Good to hear. I will have to do some reaearch on the different kinda of Chinese scooters. There is a roketa 150cc about an hour from me for $700z. Other than that, the only options are order one for around $1k or buy a mainstream brand new

Any problems? I can handle general maintenance for a good deal. If I can do 50mph, that would be suffice now that I don't have to take the interstate.

I will check them out. 150 is the smallest I would go. I would probably do a $150 around a grand or so, otherwise i mind as well go with a bigger brand for 2-3k. Thanks!

Gotta love the cars! Unfortunately the wife doesn't like me going through them so fast.
Does anyone know any trusted scooter sellers online? I am fighting between getting another well known brand vs a Chinese brand.

Google or look up mad toto (may be one word) on Facebook. It seems to be a scooter group out of the Kc area that is largely centered around the scooter world store.

Nah, I had a trans am. I worked a lot of my way through college (as well as paying for the mustang restoration) by working on f-bodies ( camaros and firebirds) and c5 corvettes. We built at least one every 2 weeks or so. Unfortunately, at least for now, those days are behind me.
