I am using 10W40. It is what it calls for. Well, I could not find 15W40 in a synthetic.

I think that you could fix that scooter, I would ask for a better price though. I just got one like that (Roketa) for $1000 and rode it home, 500 miles on it in like new condition. See if you can it it for $650-700.

Well, I purchased this 2008 MC-54-250B(Cyprus) used a week ago used from a nice fellow in my area. He had only ridden it 500 miles. It is in near perfect shape and I gave him $1000 and rode it home. I felt I did good. I began to ride it and read here about the things I should do. So this weekend I decided to adjust the valves and change the engine and gear oils. I pulled all the panels off and got to the valves, kind of a pain, but I have done worse. I changed the engine oil and when I went to fire it up, nothing. Well, first off the Chinese use really crappy fuses and somehow I hit it and the element broke so it would not crank. I had also hit the kill switch and did not know that either. So I spent over an hour frustrated trying to hunt that down. After I found all that I still could not get it to start, it would crank, but not fire. More frustration. I went and got a new NGK plug, still nothing. So off came all the fairings and I was about to recheck the vavles when I decided to check for spark. Nothing. I then went to the CDI and somehow I bent one of the pins and it was outside the plug and doing nothing. Quick fix and the bike fired right up. So, at the end of two days working on this thing I had replaced engine oil and gear box oil with Royal Purple full synthetic, adjusted the valves, installed a new spark plug and went over every inch of that scooter. Then on to the fun stuff. I added a 12V power outlet to charge my cell phone and added a home made cell phone holder that hold my phone in the center of the handle bars. That way I could get a Speedometer App and find out how far off the speedo is. As it turns out, at 50 MPH my scooter speedo reads 59 MPH. All in all I love this Scooter and I want it to run for many years, that is why I splurged for the good stuff. I plan to get some good sliders, better air filter and anything else I can do to extend its life and MPG. I look forward to input from you guys.

Well, I got it fixed. I found that I had hit the blue fuse and it being a crappy china fuse, it broke. I replaced that and it would crank, but not fire. I replaced the spark plug, but nothing. I then checked for spark and I had none. As it turns out, when I removed all the panels I pulled the plug on the CDI, well when I put it back I bent one of the pins and it was outside the plug, not connected. I straightened that and plugged it back in, it fired up instantly and runs like a champ. Thanks for the help guys, as it turns out I was just having one of those stupid days.

As far as I know, the MC-54-250B uses a 20x12 slider, however I do not know what the stock weight is. Anyone know that?

OK, well I feel like a complete dumb . Somehow I had hit the kill switch and that kept it from turning over with the key, however I still can not get it to start. It may be flooded now, so I will be getting a new plug tomorrow anyway. I did find one of the fuses(it was bad), a blue 15 amp, but where are all the other fuses? Is there a fuse block, or are they all scattered around the bike? I understand the operation of the alarm, and that is OK.

OK, so I decided to work on my Scooter today. I followed the procedures to adjust the valves, then I changed the oil and went to start it and it will not start. I turn the key to on and no lights, I push the starter button, nothing. I then push the start button on the remote and it lights up and cranks, but will not fire. With the key it acts like the battery is dead, but with the remote it cranks and acts like there is no spark. Is this a remote/alarm issue? If so, how do I bypass it? The only electrical thing I removed was the CDI(I think) and I plugged it back in. I know the battery is good, but this has me stumped.

I am looking at getting a 2011 Fly Scooter Rio 150cc. The owner said he is able to do 65 (200lbs rider) and it gets 100 MPG. I am skeptical of his 100 MPG claim, but that is not an issue for me, I know it will do 60+. I am wondering about his claim about 65 MPH as it is a 150cc. I want to use it to commute to work, about 20 miles over mostly flat ground at 50 MPH. The speed limit is 50 MPH and I want to be able to maintain that for 15 minutes or more before getting to town and the speed limit drops. Will this scooter do this and last any lenght of time doing this 5 days a week for 6+ months of the year? Any info you can give me on this scooter would be very helpful. Scott
