I am looking at getting a 2011 Fly Scooter Rio 150cc. The owner said he is able to do 65 (200lbs rider) and it gets 100 MPG. I am skeptical of his 100 MPG claim, but that is not an issue for me, I know it will do 60+. I am wondering about his claim about 65 MPH as it is a 150cc. I want to use it to commute to work, about 20 miles over mostly flat ground at 50 MPH. The speed limit is 50 MPH and I want to be able to maintain that for 15 minutes or more before getting to town and the speed limit drops. Will this scooter do this and last any lenght of time doing this 5 days a week for 6+ months of the year? Any info you can give me on this scooter would be very helpful. Scott

I believe this scooter has 10 inch wheels. You are looking at a stock max speed of 55 MPH at best so your goal of cruising at 50 MPH is pushing it. If you don't want to get a scooter larger than 150cc then look for one with 12 or 13 inch wheels. That will up the top end speed a little.
As far as fuel mileage goes, with a 150cc you can expect around 80 MPG +/-.

... I know it will do 60+. I am wondering about his claim about 65 MPH as it is a 150cc .... I don't know about the Fly 150, but I do have a Vespa LX150 -- close enough? Hopped on the 405 in Torrance, hopped off Irvine, 40 miles per Google Maps, 39 minutes per my cell phone. Which means I averaged 61.5 mph. I kept up with traffic, mostly on the right lane but I did had to pass a couple of slower vehicles. I probably did 65 mph at times. At a hair over an indicated 70 mph the motor missed a little, I think it has a limiter. New last October, have listed every drop of fuel into the scooter, now had 2,700+ miles, 66.5 mpg per the odometer. I would expect 72 mpg with whatever California pumps in lieu of gasoline.

I have the same scooter. ( different importer, different name... ) totally stock my top speed was 50 mph. With only moderate speed cruising around town I was getting 60-70 miles per gallon with my 170 pounds. For a near full throttle run to work 40 miles away going 45-50mph with the 1.1 gallon tank full starting off, I wasn't brave enough to try the final 8 miles after the last gas station with the gauge showing empty and less than an inch of gas left in the tank... It didn't last a week pushing it that hard before problems start showing up, during the 2nd week for the last mile I was on the side of the road with a non-running scooter. Now that I've broke and repaired to better than original what's gonna bad easily it might do better if I need to use it to get to work again. I don't baby my scooter when close to the house other than limiting going over 50 mph to under 1/2 mile at a time and limiting full throttle cruising to less than 5-10 seconds, nothing else has broke lately.

Fly was trying to import a quality scooter before they went under.
They may have twins out there but they also MAY have had some upgrades. I suggest that you take it for a ride and see what you think about the performance. Keep in mind that a 12 inch wheel will have a better road experience than a 10 inch wheel would have. Don't buy it on the sellers promise that it will perform as you are wanting it to, remember that almost all Chinese scooters will be 5 - 10 optimistic on the speedometer, or more.
If it comes close on a test ride you might get a few extra MPH with just some minor modifications.
