I asked my best friend, who is way more snake-knowledgeable than am I. Here's his reply--
I would say rattlesnake. To me a cobra is more like a ninja.
Also the cobra is likely to give you a cleaner death being neurotoxic. Most rattlesnakes have blood and tissue destroying enzymes guaranteed to give you a disastrous and epic gory death or at least disfigurement.
--Therefore, I vote rattler.
