I have a 2012 Tao Tao ATM50. I was topping out at 32 mph on flat ground (I weigh 190lb). I upgraded the 5g rollers to 5g sliders and now I am topping out at 36mph (all gps verified). My question is, what other cheap things can I do to gain a couple more mph?
Anything geared to this scooter would be great. Of course, I searched and there is a lot of generic info that I don't know if it applies to my scooter. I posted before on another board and got a lot of generic information that applied to other scooters (apparently this model is not restricted at all, carb is not adjustable, etc.).
Thanks

The oil filter screen is a cheap, finger cap sized wireframe thingy, that basically only filters out the larger chips of metal; not the small flakes. It's basically a useless filter; save for the engine break in. That's what it looks like. My concern is not not having it, but that it could be in there floating around and damage something. Do I need to drain the oil and give it a closer look?

I have the set up , oring , screen , spring and plug . The plug have cracked when doing an oil change it would be a great idea to keep a spare on hand . Its a cheap set . John Do you have a link or part numbers? Or is it the same for every 50cc Chinese scooter. Thanks BTW..in the manual I have, it looks like a spring, not a screen. Is the picture wrong?

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]I did....but didn't feel anything....maybe I didn't go in far enough though. It would be bad I take it if it was loose in there.

I bought a 2012 Tao tao atm50 in the late fall. I changed the oil today and there is no filter screen. Just an O ring. According to the generic manual I have, there is supposed to be a screen (looks like a spring in the picture). Does the ATM50 have an oil screen?

I finally got my Tao Tao ATM50 started yesterday. I am in Chicago, and it wouldn't quite turnover even after charging the battery. I put a heater near it (in my garage) and after 20 minutes, it started no problem.
I think it is the oil. I bought the scooter in the fall and have no idea what oil is in there. My question is, what kind of oil should I use? I won't be riding it in very cold weather, but I'd like to be able to get it started in 40 degree and up weather. I believe the OEM calls for 10w40.
