I was stopping by to say thanks to rockynv. I just heard back from my new friends at Parts for Scooters who rockynv had pointed me to earlier. They have it in stock and I just ordered several. It is here: www.partsforscooters.com/122-83-VOG-260-Small-Pipe-JointI was so glad to find it. Now, how to put in on? I hope it isn't a tight pressed on at the factory like spandi mentioned. The head is already back on and I would hate to pull it off again or damage anything banging it in. Any advice on this?

Sandi. I checked with Sunright this week and they don't have the brass nipple.

4950cycle. I have not had the same experience you had. If it helps, here is a similar service manual I am using. It is not for our scooters. It is for a ATV with a 260 cc engine. The relevant section starts on page 3 A-19 (260cc). Please use it at your own risk as it is not an exact match for our scooters. www.manualslib.com/manual/908522/Linhai-2004-Atv-260.html?page=41#manual

4950cycle. I appreciate the good advice. I like your idea of putting a small bolt or nail inside the brass nipple so it doesn't crush. I really don't want to damage it if isn't something I can't buy.
Do you (or does anyone) know where I can buy a new one and then just leave the stuck one in the old head?
Does anyone else have any ideas to get this out?

I have not been able to get this removed. I have tried cleaning it off with gas. Then I let it soak overnight using Liquid Wrench. Then using a needle nose vise grip it wouldn't budge. I then tried applying heat to the head . It still wouldn't budge. The vise grips did damage the brass nipple a bit when I tried this.
1) How do I get this loose? I don't want to damage the nipple or 2) Where can I buy a new one?
As best I can measure it the brass nipple dimensions are: Inside Diameter 0.1 inch Outside diameter 0.2 inches. The length of the nipple outside of the head is 0.56 inches. There is more inside the head.
Thanks for your help with this.

Hi there.
Once again I could use the help of the good people here who have more experience than I do.
I have a Linhai 257cc.
I replaced my head with a new one. Most of the work has been done. However there is one thing I need help with. The head is aluminum. There is a brass nipple for a vacuum line that needs to be removed from the old one and put in the new one. I can't see how to get it out. Below are pictures of the old one and the new one. It is stuck in the head. Both the aluminum head and the brass nipple are very soft and easy to damage. I have tried a vise grip after letting WD40 sit overnight. All I succeeded in doing was scratching up the brass nipple.
1) How do I get the old nipple out without damaging anything? 2) Can I buy a new nipple somewhere?
The nipple is right beside the temperature sensor right beside the intake manifold. It looks like it is just pressed into the head. The head is already on the engine. The vacuum line looks like it connects to a vacuum operated cooling valve on the head.
Thanks for your help.

kg7sbi . The cans of compressed air for blowing computer dust work good when you don't have a compressor. They are kind of expensive, but for the occasional use they work.

I incorrectly listed the length as 13 mm. It is 14 mm.
The correct measurements are:
Length: 14 mm Inside diameter: 8 mm Outside diameter: 8.75 mm
Anyone know where to find one?

I could once again use the help of the wise folks on here.
In need a dowel pin for a Linhai 257 cc engine. Where can I get one?
This is for in between the cylinder block and the crankcase and fits over the stud.
The measurements are:
Length: 13 mm Inside diameter: 8 mm Outside diameter: 8.75 mm
I lost one. I ordered one through a vendor that was for a Aeolus 260T. The vendor checked with his mechanic who said it would fit. It doesn't.
I went to a local Yamaha dealer. They are checking with the distributor and will get back with me. This is probably a long shot.
Where else can I get one of these?
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks Crawford.
If I spray it starter fluid just to try to start what will that demonstrate if it already starts and runs on gas?
What is acceptable compression for this engine?

Crawford.
It will start. However when it runs it doesn't have enough get up and go to carry me down the street. Dies 6-9 times at first and needs to be restarted. Eventually I can get it to carry me without dying.
Isn't normal compression two hundred psi? Mine is one hundred ten psi dry and one hundred thirty wet. Shouldn't low compression be my primary focus?
