BadPumpkin, Please forgive if I sound contary but I have used dielectric grease for years on metal to metal connectors especially concerning moisture conditions and never had an issue. Even though people have told me that it is non-conductive (and I know that statement is true) it does conduct when metal on metal. However I do thank you for your advice! Many thanks rik

Why stop there Tortoise? I was thinking along the lines of a 283!! :-)
Unfortunately I do not have the room or the tools to be able to do any mods on the frame if the replacement engine does not line up but I was thinking along the same lines in the not to distant future!
I appreciate the encouragement as well
Many thanks,
rik

hello all,
I am currently driving a TaoTao ATM 50 and it has given me pretty good ser ice for the last 2 1/2 years but it is starting to have some issues with it especially with the vacuum. It has a PAIR on it.
Anyway, I am looking at a TaoTao EVO 50. I know that I need to upgrade almost right away the fuel and vacuum lines, CDI and the plug, wire and coil.
I watched a vid on youtube this morning and the guy said it didn't like wet weather because the water gets into the connectors. Really didn't want to hear that because I ride all year round except for when it snows or ices up.....
If that is the case could I just tape the connections with a good electrical tape?
Is there anything else that you can think of that I need to upgrade?
I have a new Keihin carb for it already.
Many thanks in advance to all who share their wisdom.

Hi all,
My scoot is a TaoTao ATM50 with a 1p39qmb engine with the infamous PAIR system. I ride this thing all year as it is my main transportation due to a disability.
This is my second one as my first got stolen. Learned a lesson on that one and bought a decent lock!! :-))
I travel everywhere on this thing and am a daily target for commuters and soccer moms! I also very much enjoy the looks I get because I am old and grizzled.
I look forward to talking with you all and making improvements so I can really upset these people when I can pass them!
Many thanks, rik
