My wife and I were in North GA this past weekend, and we had a great ride from the top of Black Rock Mountain State Park (Mountain City, GA, just next to Dillard) to Highlands, NC on Rt 106. Fun twists and turns down and back up the mountains, especially for 2 scoots (mine a Linhai 300 and hers a Linhai 150). About a 45 minutes trek each way with beautiful overlooks, enough S-turns to have fun, and no crazy people trying to run you off the road. We may go back in a couple weeks to do it again!

I recently replaced the variator on my Linhai 300. The brand new variator from Linhai had that same Chinese grease in the variator. I asked Jim @ Sunright what the best thing to do would be. He suggested wiping all of that out and cleaning it up, putting a small amount of MOLY grease in the grooves (for the sliders to move easy) and put it back together. It works great!
I would also suggest to check the variator every once in a while for routine maintenance. If the grease is getting too nasty, dry or gummy, you can wipe it out and put new grease in there to make sure it's working as it should.
Safe riding!

I also live in Gwinnett County with an Aeolus 300. When I first bought my used bike, I brought it to Scooter World to flush the radiator, change brake fluids - all the normal stuff. I do my oil changes on my own - it's really easy (in fact, I need to do that today!). There's a great place to get tires in Lawrenceville (Two Brothers Tires www.twobrotherstires.com/). They work only on motorcycles, but will take the big scooters if you ask nice. Prices are very reasonable, and they do a great job! Connect with me sometime - maybe we can go for a ride. It's getting nice outside - actually planning to head out today, maybe run to Forty Yargo State Park! Ride safe, and enjoy your bike!
