howdy, yup i know the good humor is all you can do sometimes. was totally disabled in and sold the gold wing then 20 some years later discovered the scooter thing which i can get on without having to swing the leg over. now i'm all over but it probably is funny to see some guy come sliding into the restaurant parking lot then take a half hour to get from there to the coffee chair. just glad to be able to go at all. really all the best to all of us as we keep on keepin' on. the green side of the lawn looks much better than the other. lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken My GF worked at Wendys. and every day this old man, I mean really old, shakey old, trembling old, came in for his morning bkfst and cup a joe, wearing his leather jacket and carrying his helmet. One day my GF asked what he rode, and he told her a Fat Boy. Yes, this shakey ole man rode a HD Fatboy, every day, rain or shine. He loved riding. And the shakes/trembling went away when he rode. Now, if he ever dropped it, he'd be in big trouble. But as long as he had the right side down (or up) he was fine. Yea, the grass looks better from above ground, than under. Live Life for the best Carry on

I rode big bikes for many years before I had my accident. The reason/solution in both the bike world and the scooter world are the same: MSF Course. Riding too fast for conditions Not knowing your bike/scooter. Bikers normally start with smaller bikes; rebel 250, Virago 500 and move up to an 1100 or bigger after a while Scooter people do the same: start with a 50 and move up to a 500 eventually Or,like me, a 300cc trike. (I got a Icebear Zodiac Trike cause I can't balance a two wheeler. Even the RT and Piaggo/Aprilla 3 wheelers need to be balanced when standing still, which I can't do)(cause I only got one leg)
So, that being said: Don't ride above your or the bikes capability Know your scoots limitations and yours Take a MSFClass Keep your scoot in tip top condition (tires, lights, brakes.etc) Dress for the crash, not the weather (I remember riding my Wing across the Arizona desert in 107 degree heat, with a jacket, full face helmet, gloves. ) I had on my helmet and jacket when I got hit by the GMC truck, the helmet saved my life (but not my leg)
So, RIDE SAFE

I'm still waiting to see the fireworks (Jim, Re: our conversation)
I'm just curious that when I Google Megamotormadness, it's the very first item on the google reply. If megaXXXX is new, how did it get to be the first response in google?

Yep, new is nice, but Maggi has been good to me so for and she still has a lot of life left. "Hey dear, since you did such a nice thing for us, go out and buy a new Scoot" Na, its more like, now that we got the sewer fixed we need a new kitchen and bath. Roy I hear ya. And,If I was married, I'm sure that's the reply I woulda got. But, I ain't married, and I can buy pretty much what my checkbook says I can. But, when Icebear gets in another shipment, maybe you'll be ready then. And it's "Honey, since I fixed the crapper, can I buy a new scoot?" Good luck either way

Honda = quality TaoTao = easy choice Why is there always someone that gotta talk crap. This is a scooter site. We all ride scoots We are suposed to support eachother in whatever we ride. I don't talk schmidt about your choice of mates. Why do you feel you gotta talk schmidt about our choice of scoots? Yea, I know we're all entitrled to our opinion, but how about giving a little more detail A honda scoot will cost more but maint should be less (parts more but overall maint less) A chinese scoot can last as long, but may require more maint, and parts are generally less expensive. Me, personally, got my GF a Wildfire 150 (Helix/Fashion clone) two years ago. Maint/issues/problems: Nada/nuttin/zilch Ride and go, after 5000 miles Wasn't till now I see that I should be doing some routine maint, and now I will. So, a blatent statement like Chinese is schmidt, Japanese is the schmidt ain't teiilling the whole story OK, someone ban me now

I'm interested in an Ice Bear also. Sure would be nice if you'd give us a blow by blow account of your new machine. After following this Board for a long time it appears Jim is a great source for machine and advice, but, him in Wi. and me in Va. has stopped me from getting one. I don't even have a place to see one. Well, I did the unthinkable, and ordered one sight unseen, (cause there aren't any in circulation cause they're new) from Jim. He was great in the ordering, letting me know the status and is working onthe paperwork. Icebear did the PDI, so the warranty is good for the full period. The shipping co was great in keeping me informed of the delivery. It's in Columbus now waiting to be put on a truck and delivered to me (Today I pray) More to come

Thanks Dave got it done. My maunt lives in columbus and i used to live close to wheeling wv Other than the long drawn out winters, Ohio ain't so bad. But, I'm still moving back to Denver when I retire. As far as the valve adj goes, I'm new to this scoot thing, but, I did have a lot of experience adjusting the valves on my VW bug years ago. actually, I tink if I need anything,I'm gonna take it to Alley and watch him. He seems to know EVERYTHING there is to know (about scoots) Anyway, glad ya got it fingered out Dave

[replyingto=triker]triker[/replyingto]Yea, a plugged sewer line probably trumps a new scoot. But, at least you got a scoot, and getting something new(er) is nice, but, family is nicer.
I got one cause I can't ride anything else. I spent money I could have spent to pay down the Cr Cards, but, I didn't. Fortunately I'm coming into some xtra cash, and can use that to pay down my bills Or, sell my GL1200 for almost what I paid for the "Z".
But, you keep your hopes and dreams high, and God will take care of ya. Get the house fixed first, the wife will love ya more, and say "Hey dear, since you did such a nice thing for us, go out and buy a new Scoot"
Well, you can dream can't ya??
Either way, Life alwyas gets better when you think it can't get any worse.

I totally agree A Burgman 400 is a great starter bike. I was alsways told that the way you ride depends on your right wrist Meaning, some say a 400 is too big, but your throttle hand decides how fast you ride. (I was gonna get a Honda 750, but got an 1100. Some said an 1100 is too big to re-learn on. ) If you could find a 650, you wouldn't be yearning for a little more power a year from now. But, get it now, and enjoy the He!! outa it.
also, mechanically you should never had any unexpected maint. They're pretty much bullet proof (like my Hondas) Enjoy the ride

My point exactly. Meaning the dealer should make an extra effort to proofread their add before posting it. Or, what we called it in the retail market, Know your product. Enuf with this cut and paste stuff and providing bad/incorrect information.
