Using a timing light my stock cdi fires on the F mark at idle when I rev it the timing moves up to the last mark on the flywheel. Its hard to explain I will try to make a video.

DX that was the reason I did not buy one that was adjustable. My stock cdi advances as the rpms go up.

Post how it does I thought about an adjustable one but my stock box changes the timing with rpms and let's me set my timing higher than most boxes because of kickback when you crank it

Don't be scared to work on your scooter its a great thing to tinker with and learn how engines work and what makes more power. And if you mess something up its cheap to replace. I like working on it more than riding.

I have thought of that but I was worried about smashing valves. Removing base gasket is next once I find an adapter for my compression gauge so I can see before and after.

I slotted my pickup to but I wanted more timing. I want to take my base gasket out next how much did it raise your compression.

I will use something better to hold them but I just used that for testing I wanted to be able to get them off if it ran worst than before.

I have been tried a "performance" cdi and it did not advance my timing any further than my stock one and it was fixed. I used a timing light and learned my stock cdi fired on the F mark of the fly wheel at idle and at 3000 it fired on the last line. The performance cdi only fired on the second mark which is an advance but no more than stock. So I came up with gluing a nut to the right of the pick up on the fly wheel. Now my timing is advanced well past the second line. I rode it up the road and it felt like it had a little more low end power. I am going to ride a little long to decide if it helps. But for free its worth a try. If anybody wants to do this make sure the nuts you use are magnetic and thinner than the pickup on the flywheel. Attachments:
