ramblinman. You are correct, I typed the numbers wrong. I used 18 gauge wire that is rated for up to 24 AC volts. My stator is putting out around 21ish AC volts. The wire I purchased appeared to be slightly thicker than the factory TaoTao wires. So maybe they 19-20 gauge. Looking at charts, maybe I should have used a little lower gauge wire for a better cushion. But the weak point would still be the factory harness.

About a week ago I finished my project of upgrading to an 11-pole stator and R/R. It appeared 19-20 gauge was the factory standard for the wires. However, I went with a forurm member's advice and used 18 gauge wire for my high output stator wires.

Just another reason to ride "dirty" without a M class license.

When I'm street cruising my RPMs stay around 6k. I found the higher RPMs help with a huge hill I have to climb on my route to work.

8k should be the max. Anything past that is very hard on the engine and has a diminished power return.

As for the BBK 100cc, the math says the weights should be 8grams. But that is just a direct proportion of 12grams in a 150cc.
Through trial and error of weights I found the 12grams limited my RPMs to 7500.

That is how I understand the dynamics of rollers/sliders.
Heavier makes the low gears last longer which means slower take off and climbing through gears. Lighter means quicker transition to higher gears for faster take off, but slower top end speed.

rock. That's good to hear you got it up and running. I was starting to wonder if the jets were the problem. Go step by step through the carb tuning guide by alleyoop and you won't have a problem. Now that it is warming up I am loving my night time ride to work. Keep us updated, and ride safe.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Draining the tank will be super helpful. Have you seen the carb tuning guide posted in this forum's tech library? It is very helpful.

First have you tried adjusting the fuel mixture screw on the carb by turning clockwise? If you put your hand over the carb and it runs, that sounds like it is adjusted too rich with fuel.

That's good to hear. Is the headlight still dimmed? Yup, but everything else is working much better. Did you check the current you are using for your tach? Is it AC or DC?

Really thinking about it. That scale for $5. ranges from .01 to 200 grams, or close to a little less than 1/2 a pound. Do you think there might be a .05 to .09 deviation in the accuracy? You can weigh a 5 gram roller, or a 27 gram bag, which is an ounce, OR nearly 2 full sized sticks of butter. I doubt we're are even going to get close to CONSISTANT accuracy. For $5. . As for weighing them, yes I left the roller on for a about 10 seconds to ensure the weight wasn't jumping up and down. And I also waited after taking each one off. As for the accuracy, yes it is a cheap scale, but all weights would be off by the same amount and still confirming that every roller is not the same exact weight. Why don't you post the weights of your rollers/sliders with your super accurate scale so we can get some very reliable measurements?
