There is an air cutoff valve (ACV), on the right side of your carburetor. It is operated by vacuum, through the line that crosses over the top, front side of your carb. It's purpose is to prevent backfiring during deceleration. You said you had the carb off....check to see that this vac line is sound and secure.
As far as the valve lash goes, I say leave them as they are. You will not hurt your engine running a .004" gap. I check mine annually, but the last adjustment needed was on June 15, 2013 at 2,502 miles. Today, the scoot has 14,256 breakdown free miles on it. I run .004" intake....and .005" exhaust. I've been doing this a while, bought my first bike in 1965....so I'm official a freakin geezer....and I still say "ticking valves, are happy valves".

Your recommended tire size and pressures are listed somewhere on the machine. Either stamped into a riveted on plate, or a stick on label.
Every vehicle I own, be it a scooter, motorcycle, atv, car, tractor, or truck.....has one or the other.

This is one man's opinion........if your 50cc isn't enough power/speed, get a 150cc machine. If a 150cc isn't enough to float your boat, move up to a 250cc machine, and so on. Don't try to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear....You'll be a happier camper.

I had mine out 3 more times this week. It's in the garage now, and probably will be for a while......winter storm watch for tomorrow night and Friday.....up to 15" of wet heavy snow forecast for my area. Oh well, I can't complain... for I had 6 days of riding in February....clocked 204 miles total. Amazing!!!

Have managed 2 more outings since last posting. Both, without the need for winter gear......didn't even need gloves. Unbelievable.....three scoot-able days, 101 total miles, the 3rd week of February.
Life is good.

Yeap....It was in the mid 40's yesterday morning when I told the wife,I might take the scoot out for coffee. She said, "Go for it". It took a little more cranking than usual to get it fired.....you know, dry carb, fuel pump, and gas tank under your feet, all contribute to slow starts, after a 3 month hiatus.
Once fired, and after at least a 10 minute warm up, off I went....stopped to fill up with ethanol free gas before arriving at my coffee stop. About an hour later, I was ready to leave, and the temperature was up to 54*. Took the long way home, making a stop at NAPA to pick up 4 oil filters. When it was all said and done, I'd covered 33 miles....and the scoot never skipped a beat.
Most might think....big deal. But when you live in Western New York, and can comfortably ride your scooter 33 miles, on February 15th, it is a big deal. Now I only have 2 months to wait, before the season starts for real around here.
It was an enjoyable day.

A bit over 13,000 miles ago, I made a catch can for my scooter.....similar to what chewbaca did. Mine however vents to the atmosphere, and I'll add... has never expelled so much as a drop of liquid. I just remove, drain, and reinstall, every other oil change. This link will show you what I did for a couple of bucks.

I was wondering what can be done with the ethanol from the gas its gonna be about fifty percent water after extraction i thought why not test for the actual numbers and sell it to boost heads. Methanol and ethanol work similar to each other in alcohol injection systems and all the contamination in the waste ethanol are things that are supposed to go in a motor. and boost heads like 50/50. I think $3.50 a gallon for 50/50 boost mix is sellable another possibility is window washer fluid Since it's just water and corn alcohol.... It might make a tasty, adult, beverage. Well, maybe not tasty, but one that will get you, where you want to be..

I have used it exclusively, in my trouble free Chinese scooter, for 6 riding seasons. Each season is separated by a 5 month hibernation. Also run ethanol-free, 91 octane, in my other 3 bikes, 2 of which are fuel injected, my Yamaha ATV, and my BMW X1 SUV.
Closest station is 13 miles away, next closest is 23 miles in the opposite direction.....both have a dedicated hose/pump for ethanol-free. There are other stations in my area that offer real gas, but it comes through the same hose as the other grades do......so I shy away from these places.
It is more expensive, but not prohibitively so....especially for a scooter. About $.60 a gallon more here...... so far this season the scoot has covered 1814 miles, burned 22.8 gallons of fuel, so 22.8 times the $.60 = $13.68 extra fuel expense for the whole season.
Is it worth it? That's a personal choice...

seamus26......Your belt number tells me you have 10' wheels, and that means a short case 150cc engine. backroadbaron's 12" wheels will not fit on a short case, so his is definitely a long case 150......the long case uses an 835-20-30......some prefer the 842-20-30.
I use the Gates Premium....part number PL30705 on my long case.

It is a bit black for my liking......wouldn't be doing a plug check after just a brief warm up, much more informative after a good long ride.

The last sentence says it all....hard to be in a bad mood when riding. Then, there's that photo. Found myself humming the theme song of "All in the family" ......Those where the days..... "and you knew who you were then.....girls were girls, and men were men" Wonder how many women even own a skirt today. Am I giving my age away? Thanks for posting w650.

General info for a Kinetic is only a click away..... Kinetic Moped. Made in India....Vespa clone drivetrain...sounds like a decent ride. You may have better luck finding help at a place like mopedarmy.

Someone certainly abused that poor scooter. A Honda 250 beat to death in 3,800 miles?? Hard to believe how some people treat their stuff.
