Actually Kat those are the famous "Piaggio Fangs" that put the "bite" on Italian scooter fans!

Geez how did I miss you Glad your problem got resolved and you're back to riding again. I upgraded my RR in my Znen scoot with an Oregon unit. (very nicely made stuff)

Well don't move around too much, and try to be as comfortable as possible....this might be the time to check out the boots and other safety gear on the net. Speedy recovery!

The big scoot scene is middle aged men and women going to work in London aha but not many 16/17 year olds get them now were all poor What you may not realize is that in the 60's a Vespa or Lambretta Scoot was an inexpensive way for the then teenage Mods to get around. Like everything else from that era, it went "Upscale" later on.

Ahh, thank you for that. I don't know if I can pull this maneuver off? Do I need to find a specific flywheel puller, or are they a generic type of thing? What is a flywheel holder? Would I need any other special tools or materials? Gaskets or anything? I'm 10 miles from any stores and have no other transportation so I need to prepare. Surfpick, before going into this rather extensive overhaul, I'd make darn sure it wasn't something else. (you might wish to google the Fashion 250 to see if other owners have had the same issues ) BTW, the flywheel puller for the 250 is larger and a different model than for the 125-150cc scoots.

Gotta agree with George. Here in the U.S. things are bigger and more spread out, and the main form of transportation is the CAR. We really don't have the kind of "scooter culture" as they do in Europe and the UK. (I remember watching a live webcam from London and being amazed at the number of scooters in the traffic.) So I don't think it's quite as important here. (maybe to a Vespa owner)

Hey RG. judging from the picture, I'd just buy another. It would be a real Bear to have to go ahead and rebuild it, and would end up costing more than the bike is worth. Success and speedy recovery from your operation.

Geez RG, when I read this I was in a state of shock! Nightmare stuff. I can't imagine what you must be going through right now. Like kat said, follow your doctor's orders and heal, then if you feel like "saddling up" again, make sure and get them boots. I hope all is going as well as can be expected, and you make a full recovery.

I don't know where this "you can't take a scooter on the freeway" idea came from. The truth is that if you have the horsepower and reliability you can go almost anywhere. Back in the 1980's I thought nothing of taking my Honda scoot down the interstate and onto the 495 "Beltway" around Washington D.C. Even with the comparative lightweight of the Honda 125, I had no trouble with wind buffeting, or keeping up and passing the then "55mph" (yeah right) traffic, and the only thing I got from the semi's was the look of astonishment on the faces of the drivers being passed by a "Moped" P.S. These days it's on "The 10" with my Znen, but with Pirelli and Avon tires it's still a snap.
