So found out in Michigan as far as I know I don't need a title for a 50cc just need to register it. What did the DMV say about how to register it?

Not quite sure how to do that, or even how to get at any connection points. Everything is buried and shielded. Scooter, the diagram doesn't seem to match up with what I've got in that battery area. I checked the diagram for the 2008 but it's the same as the 2006. I don't know if it's actually different or if I just can't recognize & translate what I see? It's hard to tell. In this picture it looks like we see the three relays for other stuff on the left, numbers 4, 17, and 30 on the diagram. 37 on the right is the flasher relay and another relay, #29, with #14 between them. Those are all out in front on the left and right. #14 looks like that thing on the right that says "main" on it. There should be a metal box, the regulator/rectifier, possibly with cooling fins, on the right side. looking at the picture. and further to the right, the starter solenoid. It might even be on the other side of a bulkhead. What is that thing on the right, with the white tag on the side of it? I'd pull the body work around the battery. That's going to make things a lot easier to see, and you're probably going to be in there replacing something anyway. In the diagram, it looks like the positive battery wire runs straight to the solenoid and splits off from there, back to that #14 box. The solenoid takes a lot of amperage, so it's going to have big wires running to it. From the diagram it looks like you go to the right side of the battery, where there should be a wall, then out past that wall to another wall a little lower down, with the regulator mounted on it, and below and outboard of the regulator would be the solenoid. I don't see how you're going to get down in there without removing the body work. See that box on the right side of the battery? You need to look to the right of it and down. Maybe stick your hand down in there and see if you can feel the solenoid terminals. In this picture go all the way to the left and look down in that hole.

I cleaned and tightened the cables with no effect. Here are pics of the battery & engine: ykids.comI found the starter motor but can't really see anyplace to stick a screwdriver. I searched the Morphous service manual & there is no mention of a solenoid. On my cfmoto helix clone, the solenoid is right in front of the battery box. I don't know where it is on the Morphous. It may be listed as a starter relay instead of solenoid. Solenoids/relays are often located attached to the frame under the seat. The one on the morphous might look like this: thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/m2PUNDPQCgiiRSmN3Ox-H_g.jpgTry to start it and listen for where the click is coming from. That will be the relay. When you find the relay, turn on the key and connect those two big terminals with the nuts on them together with a screwdriver, a big wire, or whatever and, if it cranks, your solenoid is bad. Somtimes you can tap on the solenoid and make it work again, but it will usually just fail again very soon. Some relays on ebay are less than $10.

I would get a signed letter from the mechanic saying the owner abandoned the vehicle, preferably with the name and address of the previous owner, the date he got it, the date he sold it to you, and then fax or email that to a title bond company. You'll have to pay the title bond company about $100 for the title bond. That covers the bike in case the previous owner shows up wanting it back. As I recall, you'll then bring the bond paperwork from the bond company and pay for the actual title at the DMV. It might serve you well to go ahead and look up a a title bond company and ask them what information they would consider acceptable to get a bond, so you can make the process fast and painless. I received a title bond on a scooter earlier this year and got a great deal on a scooter that was abandoned in a foreclosure. I'd ask the DMV to be sure, but it appears you don't have to have a title for a MOPED in Michigan. just registration for a whopping $15. To be classed as a moped it must meet the following requirements: 100cc's or less no gear shifting top speed 30mph or less on a level surface www.michigan.gov/documents/sos/SOS-430_Moped_Certification_290967_7.pdfHere's a link to an application for registration www.michigan.gov/documents/sos/SOS_Moped_App_R-2L_220299_7.pdfI am not clear on what you need to TRANSFER registration though. I think a quick trip to the DMV, or a phone call, if they'll answer, would be the easy way to get the answers you need. You're welcome. Good luck.

As far as I know, pretty much every car, motorcycle, and scooter, with electric start, has a solenoid, usually round, with two terminals sticking out of the top, wired to the starter. If you have a multimeter, check the battery voltage. I think it should show about 13 or more volts when fully charged. Mine reads 12.8 and it still starts.

I'm assuming you've checked your battery voltage. Did you try crossing the terminals on the starter solenoid with a screwdriver?

I wonder what made him space out and drive straight across the lane and into the guardrail...for such an experienced rider that was a pretty dumb mistake. Poor dude must have been like a 15 foot drop at least. The best safety equipment is to drive safely, but the helmet amd gear sure helps If you're talking about M13, it was, according to him, about a 30 foot drop as I recall. He was leading a tour. I think he said he was going pretty slowly, and he had looked back over his shoulder, probably talking to his tour, and wasn't watching where he was going. Aside from the damage to his hand, I think he broke one or both legs. It also strained his relationship with his wife, adding insult to injury.

It's an interesting subject. While my 250cc Helix clone scooter is registered as a motorcycle, the key items I have read about the differences between what we call scooters vs motorcycles are the floorboard, the automatic transmission, and that scooter engines are mounted to the wheel, as opposed to motorcycles, which have the engine sitting in the frame. Really they are both motorcycles in my opinion, but like many people, when I think of a scooter, I think of a small engine and an open floorboard. Mine has a hump down the middle which makes it look and feel a little more like a traditional motorcycle, but it is still unmistakably a scooter.
