As well as a nightmare for the Asian V-Twin Harley "wannabes". Please, my Kawasaki Vulcan Classic neither has or want to be a Harley. It is perfect as it is, smooth ride, no need for earplugs to ride it and takes me anywhere a Harley will take anyone else. Metrics have their own followers and I don't think they are Harley's wannabe riders either. That Indian bike sure looks fine. If it dont ride like a Harley it would be something I could get very attached to... In a funnier note, this is all I can think of when someone talks about Harley's, I swear, it is South Park fault... I had that set up as all check marks for forum and in addition email when a thread is updated and when I receive a personal message. Email really dont do much since I cant get email here in this pc and dont desire to. I have seen the notification tab but all it shows is when someone quotes me. I unchecked the email options, lets see if that was the problem.

Under NC law, a moped should not be able to exceed 35mph...so that was the trouble. Negative, that is incorrect, it is 30 mph. From the DMV site: A moped cannot have a motor of more than 50 cubic cc, an external shifting device, or have the capability of exceeding 30 miles per hour on a level surface. www.ncdot.gov/dmv/vehicle/title/vehicles/Stop drawing attention to you by obeying all laws and staying withing the speed limit and is the speed limit is over 30 mph dont got over it. Even if it is going down a hill. The police wont stop you out of the blue unless you do something wrong as you can see they are also very forgiving but keep in mind this particular officer has seen you so you need to make sure you have the correct equipment. As far as the vin number I am sure that is not true to all scooters. Each vendor might have a different nomenclature for their vin. Even if all manufacturers would have agreed you can still change your motor in your bike to a 50 cc and that would not make it illegal. Good luck.

Must be different than a car. Still interested on hearing from someone that has actually done this type of claim (either stolen or totaled by your own fault) and hear what they got...

In many boards they have a link so you can easily find the threads in which you have participated and somoene have updated. In some boards they are called Updated threads, Updated topics, Subscriptions, subscribed threads, etc. I get an email with that list but I cant see that email on this pc. Im sure this board has it, I just cant find it....
Thanks!

I'm curious about the insurance and what seems to be the thought that insurance will write you a check and you can buy another scooter and not loosing money. I had a 2005 4runner that I bought in 2007 and totaled it on 2009 and of course what I got was about 1.5k after the depreciation and other adjustments. I had paid way more than that to the principal of the loan not to mention the interest paid. So even thought I had enough for a low down payment and buy another I did not have enough to cover my investment. Of course, I see this as normal and the way the insurance makes money (other than the other 80% or so of customers that pay a premium and never have a claim) so I was not surprised. Now, has someone in here that has make such a claim (either totaled the scooter or have it stolen) can report that he got all of the invested money back? I would be surprised but waiting with open ears...

You're best bet would be a good quality lock and a tracking unit hidden within. (difficult to steal something when both the owner and the cops know where to look for it.) Totally agree, have thought about that if I ever jack this one up and pimp it real nice. Right now is a $300 investment and i will take a chance with the lock/cable lock/chain combo.

Thanks for the welcoming guys! Welcome aboard. Make sure to teach that young guy cycling safety. This is the time. And he's on your scoot... Keep 'em both in one piece Standard response from the 18 year old every time im talking safety or rules: "I know....." LOL! I swear he knows it all even before I tell him. He's been riding bikes since young (should I say younger) and the times he been diving the cars he has been doing great but I keep telling him, he does not have a cage to protect him if he mess up in the scooter, he is on the loosing end no matter what.... School is about 2 miles from home round trip in small roads, his old work is probably about 8 miles round trip but I am trying to get him to find a job closer (not that 4 miles is really that far.) since he will have to go and work evening to night shift.

my oxyacetylene small kit is sure quiet.... not sure that chain will stand to it if they want it they will get it . just make it more trouble than the one down the road. ....Better pack your lunch. (This might take awhile) No need to pack my lunch, I would take the lunch you left in the bike! In this theorized scenario I would be cutting the chain, not melting it, even if I wanted to melt it oxyacetylene burns at about 6,330 deg F/3,500 deg C ., way past the melting point of boron. X_However when talking about an oxyacetylene torch cutting the melting point is irrelevant as melting is not what makes the cut, it is the reaction from the heated metal to the oxygen what makes the real strong heat that cuts the metal itself. all you have to do is heat the metal unit it is glowing red then press the oxygen level and cut away. I have never cut boron myself and dont know anyone that has but the melting point of it is irrelevant at least in theory. Someone send me a piece of that chain and I will make a video!

I it is running you have 80 to percent of the battle won. Now you need to take care of the parts that makes it legal, then the body parts to make it look good could be left for last.... I really hate it for you. get a big lock. I have a big cable and will add a chain so they will have to go thru 2 separate items before the can take it. The worst part will be getting my step son to use them regularly both at work and school. I will be doing my safety rounds checks every know and then!!! lol! Good luck, keep us posted.

I dont get it why people drown in a puddle. Instead of going around in the internet call tirebandit, tell them what tire you have now (you know, those little numbers in the tire wall) and they will be happy to tell you what you need and guess what, you can get them from them too... Just in case, here is the number 1-888-339-3888. And since those other larger shops seems to be too pompous (sorry, they dont have a KMA smiley) to work in your "Chinese thing" go to one of those little shops that sells used tires and I am sure they can help you or at least point you out in the right direction for another local shop. Make sure you tip the guy good and send more work to his shop. Ultimately, if you want to change your "Chinese thing" yourself go to Harbor Freights (the king of the "Chinese stuff" right after walmart, i love both) and they have all you need to make the change yourself that way you dont have to use a tire for over 3 times what you should have use it.... Good luck.

it is hard go measure from here but list what you need, look in ebay for parts to get an idea of how much you will be spending, look in craiglist for parts bikes, you can get those for close to $100 or less depending on what is your ability to haggle. it might be cheaper to get the part bike but keep in mind, the parts are used and yours is a new bike. Ultimately, you might be better off getting a new bike and using the one you got back to sell for parts/repair or keep it yourself for parts for the new one down the road. I am sorry this happened to you. The only thing that worries me more that have my "new to me " stolen is for my step son to get hit while using it. Make it harder for them next time. Chain one side of the frame with a thick chain and other side of the frame with a good cable, 2 separate locks. When they see all that trouble they might pass it on by....
