The starter solenoid is just like a relay and polarity does not matter on the relay coil. I can't say why it would be backwards, but it should still work.
I'm stealing this info from a post on another board, but some Google searching will help here. White: AC output from stator Yellow: AC output from stator Green: Ground (possibly burnt from a short?) Black/Red: Charges the CDI capacitor. Breaking this wire will kill the engine Blue/White: Pickup? Red/White: Pickup? Reference: Cross referencing these two pictures is what tells me the blue/white is the pickup I just wired up the brake light kit to my Gmax helmet today. My tail light wire was brown. If that is what this is, it might make sense that someone would have tapped into it being that it's an always on 12 V source going to the tail light. The other wires might be turn signals or brake light, being on the handle bar area. I'm still pretty new to scooters so this is just my guess. I have the exact same thing on my scooter, with the clear housings around the wires. I don't remember if they are the same colar as yours though. No idea what they are for. Blue/yellow in the diagram below is shown going to the coil that fires the spark plug. Hopefully some more experienced people can give more insight.

oldchopperguy Thanks for the pics. Since posting this, I came to the conclusion that the trunk the MC-54 comes with is said to be pretty poor and not worth keeping, so I may as well upgrade to a larger one with better quality. I've been looking at the exact trunk you have and others similar to it. I basically want to be able to fit two full size helmets and have full lights hooked up. As for the panniers, I realized I got much better search results when searching for hard saddle bags instead of panniers. I'm looking at getting something like this below. They even have lights you can hook up as well, but only brake, tail, or turn signal (not more than one). I don't think I'll really need this much storage, but I think it's cool to have and makes the bigger 250cc scooter look a little more like a touring motorcycle.

Not sure what you want me to look for on the right brake lever. It looked normal to me.

Yeah, I'd prefer it still be in a crate since I am trying to save money. Although if they had one already out together and running I'd consider it. I'm mainly wondering about any recommended dealers in Texas. I've called one place in Dallas (they sell on Craigslist, but I can't remember the name) but was turned off because they don't accept credit cards. I will be paying by credit card for a little extra buyer protection. I basically just want to skip the week or two it will take to get delivered and save a little money on shipping in the process.

I'll looking to buy a Roketa MC-54-250B in a few months and want to consider buying local to avoid shipping charges and get it the same day without having to wait a week or two. I live in the central Texas area and can travel to Dallas/FW, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. I believe Dallas has a big distribution center there but I don't know if they sell direct.
Any experiences with buying local versus shipping? Would I need to do some of the PDI before driving off, or should it be pretty much ready to go? I'll of course be doing the full PDI with fluid changes, new fuel lines, etc. at home.

That's part of a wiring harness. If you look closely, you can see the retaining clips on the sides.

I'm trying to post this from my phone so we'll see if this works. In this picture you can see the real brake lever I installed, with the bracket I cut off and old brake lever held to the side. I forgot to mention that it had something like a lever, but too short and not connected to the cable (looks like it was machined that way, not cut). The bracket and weld that connects it to the bars are gold colored like everything else (not sure what it's called? something like a galvanizing process?) which makes me think it came out of the factory this way. I take it from the responses so far that this is not normal which answers my question, but I'm still pretty convinced this wasn't a modification. I'll post a picture of it this weekend. I might not still have the threaded part, but the base of the bracket it still visible. It's not welded on like someone was messing around with it. It really looked like it came out of the factory that way. Anyway, I'll take a pic once I have time to take the front cover off again.

I've been reading up on Chinese scooters for over a year now and finally bought my first one. It's a used JMSTAR Princess with 240 miles and wasn't running when I bought it, but it was an easy fix.
Anyway, the scooter only came with one brake lever on the right side for the front disc brake. On the left, where the brake lever should go, was just a bracket welded to the handlebars with a threaded hole for the mirror to screw into. Most of these brakes levers have that threaded hole built into them, but this one clearly came from the factory without a brake lever on the left. The strange thing was that a drum brake was installed, cable and everything, for the rear brake. I've already installed a new brake lever for the drum brake so I have proper front and rear brakes, but I'm still wondering if this is common practice? I just can't see why they would install everything up to the lever and leave that off. Maybe it's a production line thing where they are only set up to build with rear brakes but this model was manufactured for a lower range so they left it off?
Just curiosity really. Is this normal? I'm happy to say I've done all the tune-ups and fluid changes and it's running great now. Just need to get it registered and inspected.

I'm hoping to by a Roketa MC-54B in a few months and I was wondering if a full face helmet fits under the seat or in the trunk (newer style that is more flat and rectangular).
Also, any good pannier options for this bike? EBay turns up a few soft bag options. A Google image search for MC-54B panniers has a result of a white bike with hard panniers. Are these available anywhere? I'll try linking to the picture later. Speaking of white, where can I find this bike in white? So far I've only seen the standard black, silver, blue, and red.
Thanks!
