did come across some one some where selling a kit ....almost identical to what i plan on doing ... $250... but forget where i saw it ...and google searching doesn't turn it up. closing off pressure side of oil passage and tapping into it and returning it back in on the other side of the block. the kit included a new crank case half and fittings and cooler. I still plan on building my own .... me finding that one just proved it is feasable ...lol but my cost would be the money for crank case thaselfts it to make it myself .... seen them around 35-50 for a 157qmj...... now anyone at all had any luck or tried adding oil filter system? i put about 250 miles a week on my scoot ... changing oil close to weekly ..... its cheap ...but a pain... so anyone ever try a filter? found it again link

finally got around to pulling motor apart today .... still running ... still knocking .... replaced starter clutch ....reassembled and fired it up .... still knocking. did find 2 small ball bearings in the oil on start clutch side ... way to small for crank bearings ... maybe ...maybe the size of really worn cam bearings but mine are both still there lol ..... only thing left is to tear it completely down one weekend and see what i have

yea i did try that .... that is how it is running now seems to run best that way ....think may have to do a little work on carb jetting aswell .... did upgrade to a 30mm carb from a 24mm ..... but now thinking may be a little to much for it and need to lower the jets a little but really debating a tbi system

i did find out what was making my motor "ping" so much. it is a gy6 150 157qmj i installed 58.5 mm kit and high comp piston and did and do run premium fuel and also install the performance coil and ignition. come to find out the ignition module has to much timing advance in it ... put stock back on and running way better. So need to find the ignition module with adjustable timing or one that just removes rev limit.
Still working on oil cooler will post updates on the fabrication and how well it works... probably be about 2-4 weeks to get it totally done. waiting right now on the new case. built 4 different size "coolers" have a small 3"X3" then a larger 5"X5" and then a 6"x6" and a 6"x6" with fewer fins per inch on the tubes .... gonna see which will give me the results i want.

well have ordered a scoop for fan side .... and am working on an oil cooler .... oil cooler price is not a concern for me .... i make cooling coils at work (micro channel condensers) and i am able to fab any size i desire and just pay for the metal used about $5-10 so in the works of getting a spare crank case and letting my shop welder put in a plug in the high pressure side .... well flow restrictor not totally plugging it. then drill and tap my oil feed to the cooler off the high pressure side of restrictor and put it back in on the lower side .... this should cool the oil before it gets up to the head... and being that the flow is not totally blocked off just restricted should allow oil to flow to the top if anything should ever happen to the cooler..... well here is crossing fingers and hoping anyway. and incase it goes completely sideways ..... acquired another gy6 150 scoot with bad frame to steal motor from til a new one comes.

has anyone out there tried mounting an after market oil cooler? any success?
my daily ride is about 25 miles and half that is in stop and go traffic, engine heats up pretty bad. the plastic shroud is still over my engine. has anyone come up with a way to get these to cool better? by about 1/2 through my trip i start to get the valve "pinging" under 3/4 to full throttle and have adjusted the valves down to .003 clearance now but still getting it so can only assume it is getting to hot. dont get the noise or loss of power early in trip. and dont want to adjust them tighter then i already have. they were at .005 when i first got the scoot a month ago ... tried .004 and now at .003.

yea it is an 08 ... 150 gy6 .... and definitely is drum drum. looks alot like this style here www.scrappydogscooters.com/Handsome_Boy_parts.htmlso looks like most parts are available to switch front .... was just wondering if anyone has attempted before with success or not. i have put a bbk on the 157qmj and upgraded ignition and larger 30mm carb.... seeing speeds over 60 mph ...til i broke my speedo cable yesterday .... ordered new one ... so the stopping power or lack of i should say is a bit scary .... a few times have had to make a quick stop from upper end of speed and was real close to not making it.

my scooter has drum brakes front and back with 10" tires. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to upgrade the brake system on one of these to disk brakes on atleast the front. i am finding the stopping power of the drums alittle lacking for my taste.

Hello everyone, First off i am new to the boards and new to scooters. I just bought a 2008 Wildfire whf 150 se R8 at a really good price <$250 with 1500 miles on it. It starts right up and runs what seems to be fine and doesnt seem to have any major issues that i am aware of right now. Get the tags and inspection this weekend so can run it alittle more after i have them. Main thing i am wondering is has anyone had any experience with this scooter.? good ... bad.
From what i am told everything is stock on it .... guy ran it first summer he bought it then left it sit in garage. I did figure out it has a 157qmj engine on it. any known issues with them?
secondly i would like to drive it daily to work and back .... 20 mile one way .... 45MPH highest posted speed limit on route. Would this 150 be able to handle this trip. i am not a small person .... 5 6" 240lbs
and lastly has anyone messed with big bore kits for this one or performance parts .... I am a slight grease monkey so .....
thanks, DrZ
