Gang, I've been searching in various ways and haven't struck gold, so I'll just ask:
I recently picked up a Meiduo MD150T-4 It's one of this model:
Roketa MC-17-150 Sicily
JCL MP150T
Supermach MP150-04
Apollo Q150
TANK Viaggio 150
JCL MP150T
Lance Venice 150
Eagle EAGLE 150 MILANO
Fushin Milano 150
Peace TPGS-811 150CC
BMS Romans 150cc
I dropped by my local dealer Scooterlandus to check out their shop and chat for a moment. Mike told me a few things about this model. In particular, he mentioned its lineage is a 50cc bike originally and they put a 150cc engine in it. He noted, however, that they did not upgrade the muffler and that it's probably costing me a little power, so my 150cc engine is breathing through a 50cc sized muffler. And observing the bike it's clear when comparing to pics of other 150cc's that this muffler is indeed shorter.
I did a PDI when I brought the bike home. Replaced all vacuum hoses and fuel line. Inspected the air box and filter, etc, the whole 9 yards (though I did not do a compression test yet but it purrs nicely). Valves were perfect, spark plug is reading just fine at a nice light toast color. No leaks.
So, given the above, and the fact that I max out at about 45-50mph with good plug readings and free spinning wheels, belt(gates)/variator/clutch looking good, would getting a 150cc size muffler (the boring aluminum stocker or performance) likely free up a few mph? Keep in mind, this is assuming the current muffler is designed for 50cc.
Some metrics: I weigh 215 Drive mostly flats around neighborhoods and 50mph expressways Belt is a Gates, not a chinese stocker, so someone has been in there and replaced that. Getting about 60 mpg It has 3000 miles on the odo (and I did an 18 mile trip and verified it's miles, not KM) The bike has reasonable performance down low, but top speed is just gasping. WOT is not an issue because there is nothing there. 3/4 is about all she'll do.
If a bigger muffler would actually improve my top speed, I don't mind spending a little bit, but if it's not going to do much, I'm happy to put the money elsewhere.
Thanks for the observations and advice.

Hi folks. I'm a longtime motorcyclist who got the scooter bug recently on my trip overseas to visit the wife's family. We hit Hong Kong, down to Thailand to visit some family, back to Hong Kong and over to Macau. Scooters are EVERYWHERE, especially in Thailand. So, while away, the scooter bug bit hard and I had to have one.
On my return home, I scoured the forums and everything I could read up on. I picked up a Meiduo MD150-4. Same model as the Roketa Sicily, Lance Venice 150 and quite a few others. Mine is a 2013, so pretty new.
I'll make another thread on what I've done to it and my observations.
Great to be here, and it's fantastic to have such a web resource as this.
