OK it seems that this motor to say the least is a real needle in the haystack and IMO some of the best suggestions by all have come out here so not only do we want this scooter to run right it has become a mission in doing so. When we do figure it out then not only will it be a thread to remember for future problems like this I'm going to personally salute the suggestion that fixes it. I've read this very closely and I can relate to what Jim said on a couple of things myself as far as pressurizing the crankcase due to a ring problem, one was on a old time favorite that Jim, Alley and myself remember and that's the old 235 straight six Chevy of the 50's and 60's. Two things come to mind from that old solid lifter engine, (1) a ring journal can break or crack and she'll blow oil even out of the oil cap cover (2) if all the rings line up for any reason with the break in the ring all lined up she'll do the same thing, as the piston rises on the compression stroke it'll blow back to the crankcase yet not smoke. Ya forgot, that one Alley. I had to think back myself and I had that happen to me on a old Clinton engine once, remember the look alike Clintons of yester year that copied the B&S ones. My dad had some choice words for that lawn mower that I can't say here! Also I'll throw out some food fro thought? Colorado? High elevation? Should we not hold the jets down to a stock size and try to get her extra air say with a unifilter? Yes she has other scooters that are doing fine but this one for whatever reason is being a problem child kind of like the old saying in the family, the black sheep. Let's put our heads together and if one thing that common sense says it doesn't work scratch it and we go back to the drawing board. It's a conquest now so get your pencils out! JR

Man it is a great morning! With the exception of one thing. My grandkids and I this past winter made up some new bluebird houses and in the last few days I've got them all mounted along with my new martin house for the early spring birds and let me tell you nests are being made! I park my Traverse outside my carport and in the last few days a beautiful pair of bluebirds are already building a nest in one of the boxes. They take breaks and when they do they both fly over and land on my Traverse's outside mirror and hang down and look at themselves in the mirror! Needless to say they leave the white poo on the mirror too! Funny to watch, not fun to clean! But here is the one I just discovered a little bit ago that will tickle ya! This is a little wren building a early nest in the front pocket of my 50cc scooter! This was originally my stepson's scooter but he moved up to the Bali 150 and I'm saving it because it won't be long the grandkids will need a break-in scooter. I just don't have the heart to move it or bother the nest! JR

I noticed both the post above are these people's first and only post and both joined right before making them.. Very fishy so please no one take the "bait" and argue. Got a great site here!! Couldn't have said it better myself. JR

Question? Why did you change the CDI to start with? No spark, no run? Or was this the performance CDI change? If the scooter was running before with the stock OEM CDI how did it run? JR

Hey Folks don't forget the section titled Product Reviews: itistheride.boards.net/index.cgi?board=rprI know it's kind of new but if the information about a product is posted there it really helps other members make a determination sometimes if they are interested in the product too. I just moved a post to that section that was in Tell~Sell which was a good review. If you need a guideline on how to post a review there is one stickied at the top of that section. JR

I know Harry from lots of correspondence over the years and he and his wife are wearing the tires off of their scooters, even making long across the country trips on his Silverwing. He'll catch up one of these days.

Thanks for the ideas and for sure we'll look at all suggestions. We are doing well in the short time period that has passed since the move. For instance this evening just a few minutes ago actually we passed dawg.net in post counts by the members. Last check
dawg.net 464 threads and 4732 posts by 618 members. It is the Ride.com 529 threads 4764 posts by 347 members
This says a lot and just ads more exposure. Other things people can do that ads free search engine exposure is to spread the word on facebook, myspace and other things like scooter clubs, scooter rallies and even blogs with people related to scooters.
Every little bit helps.

It does help and it is a great idea. Every time any kind of search engine is used for information then the search engine whether it be google or any other the search engine looks for matching words in the search and the more posts that are done here the more the search engine finds related articles, companies and forums.
If you go and google something as simple as how to clean a carb it will find and match all possible words. Go google how to clean a scooter carb it narrows the search to specific listings.
More you google the more you get exposure to your site, plain and simple.

Looks like we need to make a square one up so we are not hidden so much by the others. Agreed.
