Last night Proboards was having a server glitch and all posts were acting whacko. If anyone has a problem today, please let me know.
Thanks JR

Yup. And after 3 decades, I became one of them... Gotta agree with Americanpsycho on this one. Leo (a very happy Texan for 35 years...) in Texas for good.[/quote][/p]
BTW Leo Texas doesn't mess around with child support either, I know my D I V O R C E was in Texas:

20% is for one child, add 10% additional for each child.

I'm sure they haven't lost any sleep over it along with the good citizens that obey the law.
Some think taking your drivers license because "you" didn't pay your support for the kids "you" helped bring into the world is harsh? In my state they don't bother with that, they just lock you up that's why I always paid mine. I haven't figured out yet how to make a living in jail.

Forecast for my area: t.weather.msn.com/local/morrilton-ar/?wealocations=wc:USAR0388Look at the temps, it'll be Wednesday before we get above freezing and some single digit lows. It's easing up and doing exactly what they said it would do. But it's % sleet which is better than freezing rain. Sleet hits the ground and doesn't stick to higher objects very well, freezing rain clings to everything! Just went and warmed my generator up again to just stay on ready. We've got 2" or more too Leo and the wind will cut you in two! More possible for Sat and Sun. Now the question is can I go get mama from work or will she have to spend the night again? JR

I'm just having a very hard time understanding these two statements?
I briefly looked into the Illinois state laws who are made by people who are voted for by the people who live there like some fellow once said ( of the people, by the people and for the people) and I couldn't find one place where it says that the state makes anyone a criminal?
So let's just simplify this by two words, "good citizen".
Good citizen = people who obey the law and don't worry about losing their drivers license.
There's always another option, .......move.

news.msn.com/us/ice-friday-bears-down-on-texas-much-of-Midwest
Got up this morning to at least 1/2 of sleet and it's still hammering down. I've got my big DR/mower generator ready to plug in and lots of cans of gas. she's running right now just to warm up. Hoping for the best and I keep power but I'm ready if it goes down. I have my computers on a 6 hour back power regulator system and since my heat, cooking and hot water are on natural gas, a move I done last year all I need for heat, hot water, and cooking is 110 power. This generator is bad enough to run the whole house even the TV's if you keep gas in it.
Schools shut down, roads are very dangerous. My wife is a nurse in Little Rock and worked today, the hospital put all nurses/doctors up in rooms last night so she and I are safe and off the road. When it thaws she'll come home or I may fire my 4 X 4 up and go get her tomorrow, but the problem is no temps above freezing for next 5 days, Monday night forecast is single digit cold. Also another wave of freezing stuff predicted for Saturday night. Not good but it could be worse like this in 2000:
www.alabamawx.com/?p=13869
I stayed up all night with my shotgun firing bird shot on the tree limbs to knock the ice off of the limbs of the trees by my house to keep them off the roof and from damaging my house. Over 10" of ice fell that night sleet, and freezing rain.
Power lines leveled in my county for a 50 mile radius, power companies fro 23 states came to help. I ran a generator for 36 days straight before I got power back. Arkansas is the leading poultry producing state in the nation, due to collapsed houses over 9 million chickens lost, thousands of acres of forest leveled like you took a giant weed eater to it. Homes destroyed, lives lost, as it said the worst ice storm n Arkansas history.
Where I worked 36 miles away I spent all day over 9 hours on a chain saw clearing the state highway to get to the shop for a big welder/generator to power my house. Small state highways were on the back burner because the state employees were on major highways doing the same. When they met up with me at the end of Hwy 369 they were grateful for my efforts so people could at least get to town for supplies. No one saw this coming and we weren't ready.
I'm ready this time and crossing my fingers it'll ease up.

Oh I agree with you, (I myself did the all LED switch-out and fan upgrade) But I was thinking along with that, (sorry if I left it unsaid) if you could get a low wattage system with good sound (and waterproof to boot) why not? As for the R/R, unit I still just use standard headlight bulbs with it. Unfortunately (for Honda clone scoots) the Linhai stator is bigger and able to through out more amps P.S. I read the pdf, and it says he loved the R/R unit from OMP, but it seems his stator didn't have enough juice to keep up? (did he not also state that he believed he was running with a bad battery, and then a low amp unit at the time of his power drop?) Basically the new R/R allowed him to get all the stator would put out. We need to remember rectifier regulator. The OEM regulators are set at a medium as if the voltage climbs so high (if not needed) it shunts the excess to ground and if needed allows more from the stator. By working with the fellow at Oregon cycle he was able to produce a R/R that would have a higher top set point to allow more amps/voltage in the end but again this stator only will put out so much.
Yes Todd did put a better battery on, with this scooter a good 12ah to 14ah battery makes a big difference, myself even with the linhai I use a 14ah jet ski battery, reason? More ah/cca can buy one that will still fit the battery case and a better battery will give you up to 3 good years of service.
After all the smoke cleared he put on a
better R/R better fan replaced diode with relay (gains up to .7amps) better battery all LEDs replaced some wiring with heavier gauge wiring
End result, even with fan running and one HID on he could hold 13.5Vdc charge all day long.

Just to let you know others including myself know what this engine's stator will and will not do:
www.thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/thread/3202/jonway-yy250t-charging
40W = 3.33 amps, without complete LED change out and fan upgrade, it's not happening. Again this fan draws 6+ amps. and can be changed to a better 3 amp draw fan, with this the 40W system will be a wash.
Also the poster in that thread which I made a PDF out of if you'll read can only run one HID headlight for any distance before they lose ground and he's the one who got the Oregon Cycle R/R going for folks a good time back.
Other options are rewinding the stator to put out more, been there done that too. Again this stator doesn't stack up to the 18 pole stator that's in the linhai.

Good news on the stator and while you got her stripped and have plans for a stereo/amp upgrade you'll need to make sure you do some things to allow enough voltage/amp savings to accommodate it.
LED's all through the system and a possible fan upgrade along with getting rid of the blocking diode. Why? The stator on this engine is just not as strong as the sister linhai 250.
If you know how to test for amp draw then check the fan with a good hot battery, if it's the OEM fan then it'll pull from 5 to 6 amps. One can replace it with a just as efficient fan that pulls half the amps, a big thing if you ever decide to put HID's on it. We have a long thread at Professor on the electrical system upgrades and it does help.
Testing the R/R is simple, since you know the stator is good take a reading on the red wire of the R/R with it running and that will tell ya what you need to, know.

Yup.... don't want to blow up my vintage meter... Also, how do you test the voltage regulator? It's new but it still wasn't charging. I was "told" it could be a connection to the ignition switch. Also, the blocking diode is good. You never said if you tested the stator and the output results? Bad stator = no charge even with good R/R. Simply test to see if blocking diode is good, jump it and start the scooter and check for charge at the battery, oh BTW when you jump it the headlights will come on, don't panic. If stator is good and R/R and jumping the blocking diode gives you charging voltage then you'll know what's going on.

Let's try to stay on topic here folks, we have a person who BTW I'll say Welcome to the forum that gave her initial experience of how she first bought and was treated on her scooter.
IMO to charge her $340 she was ripped off and she stated just such.
I see nothing wrong with the statement of "Sorry you got ripped off."
I will only disagree with the number of 99% IMO especially if people do any research at all about buying a scooter even totally non-scooter people they know they need to exercise caution when buying online. I think that number would be totally true as little as 3 years back but it's getting better just like all online shopping is getting better, the day may come that online is how you buy everything.
Other than the dispute over this statement all other replies are trying to help the lady with her scooter and let's try to keep that focus.

Awesome.... Thanks JR.... I figured it didn't matter because it was 3 phase... now I have to figure out my meter... It's vintage, and cool.... but harder to use.... I know how to use it for DC... but never fooled with it on anything AC. Tell ya what... I can put up a better video of stator testing if you want.... Now that I know what to do..... Now if I could just find the hazard and kill switches for this bike.... I hate to referb the dash on it and used faded switches... The bike is a little different config. The switches at Scrappy are marked differently... The one they have for the kill switch is actually my hazard flashers... the one for the Aux, on my is the kill switch.... I'm gonna have 60 bucks just tied up in switches. I'm replacing both brake switches as well, one is completely bad the other is intermittent. Still trying to figure out what I want to do for paint.... Would love to see a better and (correct) way of testing a 3 phase stator video on your scooter, remember to set your meter to at least 200Vac or better.

yeah, sucks for sure! I am a fairly well known guy on the docks of the New bedford waterfront, so I do have a network of some "not-so classy guys (if you catch my drift). These poor souls do not know the scope of the mistake they made. I wouldn't want to be them if they are found by my associates before the police. These kids are the young bucks who have no idea of what they just did.or who they did it to. You sound so bad . Lol! I'm just picturing the mob going after their bosses stolen scooter. You don't know who you're messing with boys, give us our bosses scooter or you'll be swimming with the fishes. I hope your fellas don't come looking for me for making fun of your super machismo post. I hope you never have anything stolen from you and receive no justice. I'm sure sailracer isn't going to do anything foolish and going to jail ,himself for taking the law into his own hands because a scooter isn't worth doing this however if he can find out who stole it having them prosecuted would be nice.
Last year at a open pecan orchard where the owner allows the public to come pick up the scrap pecans left that the auto-pickers miss my wife and I witnessed two teenage boys opening the door on our vehicle and the end result was they took a $20 car phone charger. We were way down in the orchard but we still seen it, don't know why I didn't lock it, mainly I figured it wouldn't be bothered and there wasn't anything to steal except this charger, who would want it?
So I approached the boys and their grandfather was also picking up pecans and asked them to return my charger. They immediately denied having my charger even though I witnessed them taking it and the grandfather got real indignant and told me to back off and leave. I called the county sheriff and told them what happened and my location. The grandfather saw me on the phone and asked me if I called the law and I told him I dang sure did and they were on the way.
He threw the charger on the ground and then called me a vulgar name. When the law arrived I told them what happened and they wanted to blow it off since I had my charger back and no harm done, didn't agree with this and told them I was going to press charges with or without their help. Had the grandfather helped, apologized, had the boys apologize I would have let it go.
At the court appearance the judge basically asked me what I was trying to accomplish since I had my charger back and all was well, I proceeded to let him know a crime had been committed and that the a guilty verdict was needed and since it was of a small nature that public service for these boys was in order IMO. He then said I was correct and that people should stand up for their rights more often instead of just swallowing the wrongs people swallow. The grandfather had to be contained by the court officers and ended up getting fined himself as an accomplish. As we were leaving the grandfather got up in my face and told me that I might not need to go back to pick up pecans in that lonely isolate orchard any more and let him see me. I got close enough to him that he could count the hairs in my nostrils and let him know I survived war and it would take a lot more than him to make me afraid to go anywhere.
My wife and I picked up 2 five gallon buckets of pecans in the same orchard just two weeks ago and man they are sure good.
