So far, this has been a fun project. I've made a lot of progress in the past ten days. I got it running this past Sunday...starts right up now. Now that I've torn it down to the chassis, its time to start prepping for paint. Tomorrow,.. I'll knock the shine off with 400 wet/dry and start laying primer. There is literally, no plastic repairs to be made. All the tabs are in great condition and no breaks or cracks anywhere. Just one area on the front that is scuffed from falling over. I'm still not sure of the color/colors, stripes/graphics that will be applied yet. But, there's time. I'll let the primer dry for a day before wet sanding. Rust-Oleum is my choice for the base coat...just wish they had a better selection of colors. Then wet sand, clear, 2000 grit wet sand again and polish. Can hardly wait to see the parts painted. Note: I'm using Rust-Oleum....Stops Rust...Automobile Primer. It is stated on the can that it can be used with most brands of automotive laqueres and enamels. Any thoughts on Valspar or Krylon,...for a better color selection. Still would rather use Rust-Oleum..($$)....but, still open to any quality brand. Gray Primer: linkStill, the table is open to any comments or ideas. I like oldchopperguys ideas on the "Vespa" look with a wicker basket. Ride safe everyone, Greetings from Dallas, Loren

Thanks pmatulew. I pulled the reservoir, again, and checked the float. Then, while a I had the carb out, I checked the diaphragm, There was some build-up on the needle, so, that cleaned it off. Reinstalled it all, and the leak appears to be fixed. I'm learning as I go. I'm not as intimidated working on the delicate parts when it's not my daily ride.
I'm sure I'll run into more situations that may require help or suggestions. Once the mechanical is finished, it will be onto the paint. I like oldchopperguy's idea of the vintage color schemes. But, I'm still looking and still have time.
Ride safe from Dallas

Okay, an update,...got it running. I don't have the air box sealed up yet and the throttle is not hooked up yet. I have to keep the throttle open manually to keep it running, but, it has good response and sounds like a new motor should. It purrs. My question now, is, while it's running, gas is coming from the overflow at the top of the carb. What could be causing this? Too much vacuum from the unsealed air box...maybe? Any ideas would be great and much appreciated. Thanks

Okay, then I need to find one in the Dallas area. I'm hoping to get this bike, back to life today. Thanks guys... time to get busy. Later this morning; Well, Wally had the Jr. for $35. so picked it up. Amazon or eBay would have been fine, if, I had ordered earlier this week. My bad. Good to go for now, Thanks Guys.

I just received a 7 amp battery from Scrappy Dog Scooters today. To keep it charged, while working on the motor, I picked up a charger from Harbor Freight. After reading the warning on the charger, I'm wondering if it is safe to use with this battery. Both of the user manuals mention "absorbed". I'm pretty sure it is safe, but, not positive. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks , Loren

It's app #2.....That's the average ...43.9.....go with it.
I use My Tracks, but that's on the Android platform. My Tracks give you a Maps playback of your route, elevation, average speed, stopped time......etc.
