Thank you for the help. He had not used it for over a week (and it was a cold week) so he did have to jump it to get it started. I'm hoping when I go over there and try a couple more times it just starts working.

My friend's scooter is at it again! Haha...I think he's going to try and sell it soon, but until then....
The problem he is having is that when he tries to give the scooter gas, it shuts off. He can turn it on and it idles, but as soon as he touches the throttle it shuts off. What are the troubleshooting steps?

Thank you everyone for the advice. I went back to batteries plus and had them load test it. Turns out they gave my friend a bad battery last week...lawl. So now its working great!

I am taking it back to battery plus so that they can charge and test it.

My friend got it from a batteries plus down the road. We had to put the acid in ourselves and the guy told him he didnt need to charge it, but I did anyway - overnight on the battery tender. Then tried it out the next morning.

Thank you! More info. When I do charge it with my battery tender it will get a little over 12V then when I try to start it same thing. Nothing happens it goes down to 8V and it sounds like I can hear the battery acid in it moving around (kind of scary)

It is 12V 6AH. I jumped it with my car and it started up instantly. Drove it around and when I came back tried to turn it off then on and nothing happened. I'm starting to think there might be a short in it some where.

Hello,
I just recently bought a scooter and some friends are joining in on the fun. I am helping a friend fix his scooter. The scooter runs fine (once it is jumped) but it cannot be kick started or start by the ignition. We thought it was the battery (and the other battery was dead), but after charging and putting it in the new battery. I hear one attempt at turning over then the battery / lights on the scooter die out.
I measure the battery after that and it is down to about 8V. Not sure where to go from here. I don't think it's the spark plug because it does spark when it is being jumped by a car.
