Think I'm going to go with the Typhoon. The owner of the Elite didn't even want me to test ride it and got really evasive when I started asking him a few questions about his maintenance.

I know a few of you will say I'm comparing apples to oranges, but this is my dilema. I want a scooter to basically ride back and forth to work which is about 6 miles. The fastest road I would trave is 40mph. The Elite is a 1985 model with 6,000 miles. The 2 stroke Typhoon is a 2005 with 41 miles. I know I would have to derestrict the typhoon to get it up in speed. I think the honda would be the wiser choice, but that 6,000 miles is making me hesitate. Is that too many miles on a scooter? The scooter itself is in very nice shape, but that doesn't mean it's been maintained well.

Went and looked at Riva 180 today. It looked to be in excellent shape and started and ran fine. It had just over 900 miles. The biggest concern I have is the availability of parts. Doing a quick search online and on ebay showed very little availability. Are parts still available?

Went to take another look at the Like 200i and Sportcity tonight. I'm not sure why, but I just didn't care for the Kymco Like. I liked the new 2009 Sportcity, but now they showed me another choice. They have a used 2009 Piaggio Fly 150 with miles on it. I like the color (white) and the styling better than the Sportcity, but the smaller wheels and much shorter warranty are a bit of a concern. Is there anything in particular I should look for on the Piaggio?

I was originally looking into getting a Metropolitan or Vino Classic; but after doing some more research decided they might not be up to the task. I stopped at a local dealer last night to check on what they might have. They had a couple of new Aprilia Sportcity 125's and a great price but they were 2009. The salesperson said they go out and buy up old stock from dealers that go out of business. Would there be any issue with buying a new, older model scooter? They also had a 2013 Kymco like 200i but don't know too much about them.

I think you may be right; after doing some more research I think the 50cc may not be quite powerful enough for what I need.

It's been awhile but it is time for me to get back onto a scooter. Basic usage would normally be a daily 4 mile ride to work using mostly side streets. After doing some online research, The Metropolitan and Zuma interest me most. Both can bought new (2013)locally at a dealer and are nearly identical in price. I know the styling is quite different between the two, but are there any other pros or cons for either of these?
