I know a few of you will say I'm comparing apples to oranges, but this is my dilema. I want a scooter to basically ride back and forth to work which is about 6 miles. The fastest road I would trave is 40mph. The Elite is a 1985 model with 6,000 miles. The 2 stroke Typhoon is a 2005 with 41 miles. I know I would have to derestrict the typhoon to get it up in speed. I think the honda would be the wiser choice, but that 6,000 miles is making me hesitate. Is that too many miles on a scooter? The scooter itself is in very nice shape, but that doesn't mean it's been maintained well.

With the 80 you need a m/c license, plates/reg, ins, title and pay taxes. 6k on any Honda wouldn't scare me away. But with that age your going to need a new belt [if no proof of replacement], fluids, check brakes etc........Piaggio is a nice scoot, seems new. It's decision time and only you can make it.

Have you actually sat on either one? I'd say go with whichever one fits best. 'Cause otherwise they're both top-notch reliable brands that should last you forever.

Think I'm going to go with the Typhoon. The owner of the Elite didn't even want me to test ride it and got really evasive when I started asking him a few questions about his maintenance.

Oo, good call on that one, brenz! If the seller isn't forthright, then leave.
Be sure to post pics when you get that Typhoon home!
