yes absolutely the bushings would cause mild to severe handling symptoms,,,they are the only thing holding the engine/rear end straight in the bike and is essentially half of the bike,,,as far as the bang goes i'd be looking the chassis over with a fine tooth comb,,,just to make sure a mounting tab or tube broke,,,i'd be giving the pivot area of the frame the long look,,,also id be giving a real good look at the shocks to see if one of the springs coils broke off and went flying,,,that would cause a pretty sharp report when they fail

If it's a battery tender the flashing green light means it's maintaining,,,,as far as the stuttering while it was running I'd wager a guess of just sitting too long,,gas in the system getting a little funky
