Valves were almost spot on! I was really surprised as I atleast expected them to be a little tight but they were perfect. I have been playing with the carb and I've gotten it up to 29mph gps. So I'll consider that a win in my book.

Ok heres the scoop. Scooter has 4500miles. Purchased it from a guy who semi wrecked it. On center stand it runs just fine and revs up high like any other scooter. However, when I go to ride it, the darn thing only goes about 20mph. I had rollers lying around from a junk scooter I had gotten, so I threw them on there (they were heavier) and that dropped my MPH down to about 10-15 MAX. I'm guessing that either I should sand the clutch pads (or inside of clutch bell) or purchase a new clutch. Also I should note that the belt looks fine, no real wear or thinning that could cause this issue. I've been reading the forums and my belt may be slipping also. Just need some guidance/hand holding I guess.

SUCCESSSSSS Geeze this scooter has been the death of me. I've put more work into this thing then I care to admit. However thanks to you guys on here I've got everything working like I want it to. Pretty good for a 150 with 6500 miles on it. Now it just bogs for a split second at WOT but then it catches back up and it shoot forward (most of the time) Its mostly likely an air fuel thing so I'll get to that in the morning. Just wanted to say thanks guys.

Update: Ordered the kit and did a top end rebuild and it ran great for about an or two hour. (not running constantly) Now it'll start up just fine by itself but now it seems to be dieing out when I give it gas. If I let off of it before it dies it idles fine. I put a new carb on it and I cannot figure out for the life of me why its doing this now. These 150's have more air lines going everywhere so that may be the case.

I decided to pour gas into where the valves are seated at and I see that it leaks through the intake valve. However for 80 bucks a whole rebuild kit is worth it. I will check with my local scooter place tomorrow to see how much they charge for their parts. (I hate waiting for stuff to come in the mail)

Ok how would I test to see if valves are bad? I know a trick to see if rings are bad and I have done a top end rebuild before but on a 50cc but I'm guessing its pretty much the same. I'm going to retest the compression now that the valves have been re-done. I will report back.

Ok so the Exhaust valve was tight when I went to re adjust them. However this did not fix the issue as it still wont crank up unless I guess it starter fluid. If I spray some right down the intake and it sputtured right up could I rule out low compression? In any case im going to change out the gas. Couldn't hurt. Will report back again soon.
Follow up: Flushed out the tank put fresh gas into the tank and cleaned the carb and the fuel lines with no luck. I still must spray starter fluid into the carb to get it to start.
Also how do these 150cc get extra gas at first. I know on the 50cc carbs there is a little pipet that sticks up and squirts extra gas into the carb if you pull all the way on the throttle. I noticed that the original one I have does have one and the new carb I purchased doesn't have one.

I adjusted my valves last night to .003 for both intake and exhaust. However that was at night so the job may have been done poorly to say the least. I will re adjust them in the morning using .004 intake and .005 exhaust as I'm seeing that most folks seem to use that setup. Will Report the the "morn".

So first Thank you dawgs. You all have helped me more than you know if I could send little thank you notes I would. Anywho got this scooter a few days ago and typical story "it doesnt run". So I got the thing to run and it does pretty good for a scooter with 6000 miles on it. In any case if I run it for a few minutes then turn it off most times it will electric start just fine. However after letting it sit it won't start, it'll just kick over till next year and I have to start a ton of starter fluid into the carb to get it to stumble bumble then finally start. So I replaced the carb thinking it was just gummed up and old. But it still does the exact same thing. I compression tested it and i'm only reading 60psi. (I do sometime question the compression tester i have) So in the morning I will drain all the gas , re-adjust the valves, and clean out the old gas from the carb and see if that is the issue. I don't know how long its been sitting. I'm open to all suggestions because im new to the 150cc world of scooters.

Hey Guys so first off if someone has already answered this is another thread please just shoot me the link. I searched on the boards and came up with nothing. Anyways heres the scoop, got the little guy for 60 bucks and manage to get her running again. However, the kick start doesn't seem to be catching. And it seems as though the crankcase is filled with oil for these types of scooters (its a vertical engine from what i've read elsewhere) So what i'm asking is should I even bother to try to get into all that mess to replace the kick start? Hopefully someone has dealt with this kind of engine before (41qmb) Also when I got it the manual choke lever was broken. Any ideas on how to fix that issue like attaching a manual assembly directly to the carb?

So I just got a 2012 50cc Tao Tao that wasnt running and it wasn't getting compression (30psi). So I went out and got New rings and a piston and did a top end rebuild (hope im using that term correctly) In doing so I ran out of daylight and may have hurried a bit to put it back together and I wanted some kinda of verification that this was the issue so I sprayed a bit of starter spray down the hole where the intake manifold goes on to. And i noticed (since it was fairly dark outside by now) that I could see it spark. Now I shouldn't be able to see this should I? It would pop once or twice like it wants to start but usually I could get a good 2 seconds of running using this technique on other scooters. Did I mis align the timing chain?
