I have a Aleous 300. I discovered that rotating the throttle once or twice before trying to start it helps it start if it is quite cold. The carb has an accelerator pump in it which squirts a bit of gas into the manifold each time the throttle is applied. Remember pumping the gas pedal a few times before starting the old cars on a cold morning. Not many small engine carbs have an accelerator pump type carb but ours does, at least mine does. I discovered this one day as as I was looking into the carb while turning the throttle and it would squirt each time I turned the throttle. Be careful as you can flood it if you turn the throttle too many times before starting the engine.

I got to thinking some time ago about maintaining tire pressure. I noticed truckers going around their truck with a fair sized hammer hitting each tire checking tire pressure, well sort of, as it doesn't really give the pressure but just by the hammer bounce and sound you can tell if it is low. I guess it's sort of like tuning a guitar. I do this every time I ride as it is easy and quick, occasionally I do check with a gage to get the actual reading.

Thank you for the info. 60MPH is where mine used to be sluggish too. Now it sticks at 40MPH and will not go over that speed. Occasionally it will hang up there even when stopped, eventually it will unstick and come down. I will take the speedometer apart and see if I can find the friction that is causing the sticking problem. With a little luck I may just have to bend something or oil it to fix it. I had to fix a sticky gas sender float on my 300. It was just swivel clip was a bit too tight. It was a big job to get the dang sender out but the fix was easy.

This thread is getting old! Just put a hard rubber tire on and no more blow-outs!

Can anyone tell me what needs to be done to get to the instrument panel on my Linhai 300. I need to replace the speedometer. Where do I start with the plastics?
