The stand was up! Sorry I was typing on my cell phone while tuning up a 250 so things got confused! I used a spark tester and connected it to a valve cover bolt and then to the wire and saw no spark. I tested and had power at a small round thing that is connected directly to the wire (coilpack maybe?). I have decided whatever that thing is must be the problem. It has two wires coming into it and the spark plug wire coming out. I am an ASE certified automotive technician but these scooters are quite different!

Alright ladies and gentlemen as always thanks a million for your help. We are getting fuel but no spark. Kill switch is on the run position. Both kickstands are down and I have no spark. CDI?

I will give this a try this week. The only thing that makes me think it might not be fuel is the fact that my got out the started it started on the first crank without any hesitation. My experience with other scooters that I have purchased and got running to resell is that when they have a fuel or carburetor issue they will not start at all from the get-go.

Got my 125cc out for the summer and rode it to work which is about a 25 mile ride with no problems. On the way home about a 1/4 of a mile it started bogging down and stalled and now it won't start back. Haven't ever had a problem with it before. Any ideas? Thanks guys. V

I actually only lose about 2 - 3 mph on the trailer. My problem is this scooter is just not meant to go at the speeds I need it to reach. Currently working on rebuilding a 250 that will hopefully suit my needs a little better.

Looks great! I'm excited about finishing mine! As you said the wiring is a train wreck I'm in the process of cleaning it up and putting tubing around it too keep it from having trouble.

Will do I will have to wait until I get paid next week to ship just PM me your address I'll let you know what it costs shouldn't be much. Also I just saw your picture on the hose Alleyoop and that is exactly what it is and I now have it correctly attached. I haven't had a chance to install the carb or finish any of the painting because the weather has been so bad so I will update when I get a chance to work on it again! It's supposed to be pretty this weekend but I need to spend it getting my 944 out of the garage and cleaned up and ready for the car meet circuit that is starting back up for the year so again the scooter takes a back seat. Good thing I have the Piaggio to keep my gas spending down. Rode the other day in 10 degree weather with all my cold gear. I'm devoted to year round riding!

I ordered a Carb for $50 from ebay. It wasn't the exact same as my stock carb but was the right size and had the correct throttle cable mount and it had the adjustment screw on the side instead of the bottom. It was $50 shipped and it runs great. Installed the new carb, intake manifold, new vacuum lines, new spark plug, and flushed the coolant while I have it apart and she seems to run great. I also changed up the variator weights and contra spring to get a little more top end out of the scoot. I have finished painting about half of it then I will start dying the plastics black. urbanmadness they are the cheap plastic 2 inch speakers and you are welcome to them for the cost of shipping them however I have no clue if they work as someone had removed my radio and I had no idea I had one to begin with until I found the speakers. One question...there is a rubber hose larger than a vacuum hose running from the air box around to somewhere near the exhaust. What is this? Is it necessary? It doesn't appear to be but I just want to make sure before I tune this thing up.

Also is that large hose emissions related? It looks like a crankcase vent there doesn't appear to be any vacuum on it. Should I cap it off or leave it open and zip tie it to the frame rail?

I actually just ordered a new carb last night. Might as well just so I don't have to worry about it. Mine is under the hump with what appears to be an electric fuel pump. Tonight I'm cleaning up the frame and the wiring along with removing the security system and the radio (that I didn't know about it had 2 speakers hanging behind the panel in the front. Also going to remove the wheels for plasti-dipping and I got my new rotors, new variator, new clutch, and new gates belt in the mail today. Also purchased all the stuff to paint it using your concept (much appreciated). Also going to smoke the tail lenses and blinkers tonight!
Another idea I had from being behind a car tht had done this. I bought some adhesive led strips in red and I'm going to wire them in with the tail light and brake like and put them around the rear light for added visibility!

Here are pictures of what the scooter originally looked like and what I have done so far. I paid $100 for it and it ran but the variator and clutch were both ruined by someone trying to put a new belt on that knew nothing and it had sat for months. Upon further investigation (and a little help from Alleyoop) I found the carb was broken along with all the vacuum lines being in complete disarray. I was going to part it out but I have changed my mind. My plans are to strip it down and paint it white. Also I will use plastic paint to paint all the plastics black instead of grey. I am also going to smoke the tailights and blinkers just very slightly to give it a darker look. I am also going plastidip the wheels a contrasting color but I haven't decided what yet. Then I will build a custom plexiglass windshield since the one that comes on it is junk and I will make it tall enough to actually block the wind as I am 6'2" and the stock windshield does nothing. I am replacing all lights with LEDs and putting some LED's under it for some ground effect lighting. Hopefully I will have all this done buy the time riding season comes around! Then I can start working on my 50cc Peace Sports and restoring my 150cc Piaggio. Awesome that has the same throttle cable mount as mine! Thanks for the help! I bought this scooter from a guy that said it ran great but the battery was dead (yeah right I'm not stupid). It was very obvious just at a glance that he had tried to work on it and ruined the variator and clutch so I offered him $100 when he wanted $300 and he took it. My new clutch and new variator should be here any day along with a nice belt so now I will order this carb and after painting should have a pretty decent scoot for pretty cheap. The guy I got it from was either an idiot or a liar...I think maybe both.

Cool I have been googling as well to no avail but I am not knowledgeable as far as what to look for. I'm a good car mechanic but that doesn't translate well to scooters.
