Sorry to hear that. I hope that you find another way to compensate for the loss of riding 'The Other Woman'. Strongs.

To answer your question, Yes - you can open the exhaust canister/box/muffler and have someone tack the loose baffle plates back in its place, or even remove them if you want some noise. On my Gomoto C5 I had to have the baffle plates welded as the muffler got very hot, resulting in the plates coming loose. I had the first box replaced under warranty, and then requested that the box be opened and repaired. It was opened on the side where people cannot see, and sprayed with black heat resistant paint afterwards. Alternatively, look for a universal muffler that has been manufactured from decent material that is not to thin.

I suggest that you use a trickle charger to get the battery to where it should be. If a battery is flat, riding it does not necessarily get it back to full.

I am looking for a set of genuine Dr Pulley Sliders 25x22 19g for my Sym CityCom 300i. I will have to have them posted to South Africa. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I have a Sym Citycom 300i. I bought mine second hand and later found that the owner and agent where it was purchased and 'serviced' lied about the maintenance. I had to service and replace the front brake disc and both sets of brake pads. I am very impressed with the quality and reliability of the Citycom. Speed wise, I got 90mph on the clock, but the speedo's are always out. True speed was 83mph, which is still not bad, considering it was carrying about 100kg's of weight and required a service. Air filter was very dirty and the plug gap was way wider than required. I recon that it is a good buy, but then I haven't tested it.

I would suggest that the battery be placed on a piece of rubber and not directly onto metal. If the scooter has been standing for a while, trickle charge it. If it has stood for a week or two, my Citycom needs a trickle charge, even though it cranks over for quite a while. The Sym needs a strong battery. Try and park your ride out of the weather, at least under a roof. Even though the Citycom valves don't tend to tighten up, I must also agree that the valves need to be checked occasionally as this can also lead to hard starting.
