I can tell you now, you will have trouble controlling the scooter at almost max weight. Tried it with my daughter and made it two miles before I said never again. And yeah we were about 15 lbs shy of the weight limit. Shame you cant get a 250cc....

Only one issue....I could not top off the tank completely. If I could see the float I was fine....If I overfilled, it would die at stops. Then the moment, I could see the float, it was fine. It was not vapor lock but with the float itself.
When you say two passengers, what will be the total weight?
About 800 miles before I sold it

Up until recently I had the Powermax(Sold it for a Honda Reflex)....Just like you, I narrowed it down to those two models. It came down to what you had to remove if you had to work on it. I found the Powermax was a simpler setup. Also, even though it has the same motor etc..., i found the Powermax had a little more pep.

Ok I have had my 2002 Honda Reflex for about a month....Flat out awesome.... Odd question..... I have never been a look in the mirror at myself kind of guy. But I do find myself looking at my scooter in the same way and saying....I can't believe this is mine.... Just look at it.... Anyone else?

Odd you mentioned the seat.....just yesterday, I opened it to take my helmet out. Set the keys down, put on the helmet and almost, almost closed the seat with the only key inside.... Yup, the Reflex is good. 2 different 2001s, one is sold and the other currently disassembled and awaiting repair. I have a 2004 Sport needs repair, (have the parts, just haven't got to it yet.) a 2006 Sport with ABS recently restored and sold, and a 2007 Sport that I am building a streamlined fairing for. FYI - Common Honda Reflex issues: 2001 - 2003 do not have the electrical output that the 2004 - 2007 have; so not as easy to run extra lights. Front brake often makes a swishing sort of sound especially after using the front brake. The pads do not fully retract on release, but it is normal and causes no harm. If the seat is not fully closed when you park it, the luggage box light may stay on and WILL run your battery down. Most just take the bulb out and use a flashlight instead if needed since the trunk light is not very effective buried under a bunch of stuff at the back of the box anyway. If you ever accidentally lock your key in the trunk/under seat storage.......I know how to get the seat to open.....without a key. People will often tell you that you have a headlight out....It's just that they don't know that low beam is just one light on and High beams are with both lights on. When changing the oil, use a 6 point socket when removing and tightening the drain cap. A 12 point socket or box end wrench may end up rounding the cap head. And DON"T over tighten it....just snug. And do check your oil often. (and properly) Dipstick only gets inserted, but not screwed in when checking oil level with the bike on the center stand. (DON'T OVERFILL!!) It uses only 1.2 Qts so it is important to make sure it has enough to prevent engine failure. Rust in the tank can clog the fuel filter. When storing the bike for prolonged periods, fill the fuel tank with non ethanol gasoline and drain the float bowl. There is more to long term storage, but this abbreviated procedure should help prevent tank rusting and carb problems from fuel gumming up. Clutch shudder can sometimes be remedied by using brakes and stopping front wheel against an immovable object (brick wall maybe) and revving the engine up for a few seconds to wear off the clutch "glaze". Drive belt squeal can happen, but is usually associated with new drive belts and symptoms are temporary.

Its running great except that odd shudder when I first take off. I will check the pads and belt this weekend. And sure enough, the one and only owner before me, bought it brand new in 2002 when he was 82. Did oil changes every 2k or 3k miles and has the logs. And asked him again on Sunday why he no longer rode. He said at my balance isn't what it used to be.... His brother at 104 stopped riding at . Amazing men both of them. The original owner owned the Honda franchise here for years before selling it in his mid 60s. Has 32,700 miles on it.....almost all of it, highway miles.

Ride to work everyday on my Reflex. Unless pouring rain.....And that is very rare here.

Picked up the Reflex...body is in amazing condition. The fuel filter badly needed to be replaced. about 3 ounces of Sea foam. Now a week of riding it.....flat out amazing difference from the 150cc chinese scoot with 800 miles to the Reflex with 30k. The only thing I have noticed it tends to shudder just a bit taking off from a stop and almost immediately is gone. Spent the first weekend learning about panel removal etc.....was surprised how much a non mechanic like me enjoyed working on it. Still must be blind though, even though I am using the pic from the service manual I still cannot see the idle adjustment screw with the small panel removed. The pic shows a little to the right of the spark plug and as I said, I must be blind. Also picking up a a K&N air filter to replace the existing dirty paper filter. No leaks of any kind....Purrs while idling... But overall, Amazing!

Found out today that 75% of that 30k miles are from Highway miles.

I told a co-worker what I was looking at... several years ago, he was a service manager at a well known bike shop....early 1980s to early 1990s. He flipped when I said 30,000 miles. Basically "what do you think you are doing....?" I was always under the impression if you took good care of a Honda engine, it could easily hit 100k or more. I still believe it is a good buy.
I would think even at 30k miles....It would infinitely be better than a taotao Powermax 150cc...
Always loved the Honda brand.
He just has me now questioning myself.
