Something else I want to mention.....when I turn the clutch bell the rear wheel turns but there is about 3/8 inch of slop on the outside circumference (I can turn the bell just a bit without the rear wheel moving)....I am estimating the play, however, I would think it to have less tolerance than that. But then I will see what others say....

Hey scoots...so did the belt help or was the it the bent bolt that caused your noise/vibration....I'll get pics of the variator area today... There is also a whine noise that was not present on my buddy's scooter. I figured this was the belt.

I recently installed a BBK in my little scooter. I have plenty of power now, enough for me, but when I hit 35 mph I start getting lots of noise and some vibration from the drive train. I rode a buddy's scooter and it was real smooth right up to it top speed. One thing we noticed was the difference in length from the variator to the clutch. Mine is shorter. Heck...I can get the scooter to 40 pretty easy now but it sounds like it will fly apart. less than 800 miles. Think I have a problem or is this scooter just too small....

I can't see a Chinese head and a Chinese pipe making their own seal... the metal O-ring gaskets suck, I use the good metal/fiber gasket and have even re-used it a few times. A head flange exhaust leak can cause backfires and other unpleasantries. When my flange kept coming loose, I knew it was time to snug it up when it started poopling down hills... lol 4 bucks free shipping....can't beat it.....thanks!!!!

Well the JB Weld did NOT hold.....so I went to my backup plan....my first backup plan.....I used a 3/8 inch long flare gas fitting (got the idea from Alleyoop) and threaded the 3/8 opening with a 1/4 inch NPT tap. Then used a degree angle. tightened things up and had a leak at the flare....removed it and sealed the threads with a bar of soap....re-tightened and I might have something here....so far with stuff I had in the garage..... Main point of this post is that JB Weld does not stand up to today's gasoline with it's additives.....

This cured all the scooter's symptoms but for how long? Been reading about ethanol laced gasoline and JB Weld......not good....might have to get straight gas in a town across the way. I have time for other options but for now.....happiness!!!! My Rube Goldberg contraption.......

Thanks Alleyoop....I'll wait to do it 'after' the test run tomorrow....lol....the modified part unfortunately has to go down in this case.....the opposite side screws onto the bottom of the tank. I feel the weld will hold, however,....I have a fuel tank that had been welded last year on my daughters car and it still is leak free. I should have taken more pics during the take apart phase....but that is how I run....fast and furious....I'll take a pic of the installed parts though and how I capped the vacuum at the intake. Thanks again for the words of encouragement....

Here is what I have done.....I cut the back off the vacuum petcock and removed the insides, a spring and diaphragms,....cleaned it up and cut a small piece of sheet metal to cover the back. I used JB Weld to coat both sides of the sheet metal and coated the outside. I have used JB Weld on fuel tanks before and I hope this will hold up....we will see tomorrow...24 hour cure time.... I changed the oil....figure maybe some fuel may have leaked past the piston and rings into the crankcase. Then I tried starting the scooter with what fuel was left in the carb bowl....fired right up...things are looking up.....

Looks like the petcock is the culprit again.. ..that is the second time now in the short time I have had this thing. Credit to Buford and Alleyoop.....thanks guys..... Alley...a couple years ago you helped me solve the same issue..... Anyway, before I order another one....,which I really would not like to, I would like to investigate the possibility of going manual. This one screws into the tank....if anybody has some ideas or howto's please chime in. Maybe the ethanol eats these things up.....gonna get it siphoned out and check my options....

Found this guide that helps me understand the carb a little more......I can visualize the fuel flow so when Alleyoop's tips are questionable as to why??? this helps me to see why..... www.iwt.com.au/mikunicarb.htmGuess most of these carbs are similar...... Well here we go....see what happens......
