[replyingto=lykos23]lykos23[/replyingto]Yes, I'm going to buy a 150cc. I live in Mississippi and I don't think it's hard to get a motorcycle license here. I'll have to take a written test and a short driving test. Not much to it.
I looked at a Kymco at one of the dealers here and I would have bought it, but I couldn't get financing, even with a good down payment. It's difficult to get a loan nowadays anyway, and I've never financed anything before.
I'm so looking forward to getting my new scoot. I'm more excited about this than I've been about anything in a long time.
Thanks for the link. There's a ton of good information in there. I know it's going to come in handy. I've been reading as much as I can on the subject, but still have lots to learn. Thanks for the welcome.

[replyingto=carasdad]carasdad[/replyingto]If the dealer/distributor will give me some sort of warranty -- 6 months to a year, maybe -- it might be worth the risk. I'll see if I can work out a deal. I won't buy it without some sort of guarantee, though.

Soon I'm going to buy my first scooter. I'm on a fixed income and I'm gradually saving money for it. Due to costs and lack of dealers, it looks like I'll have to buy one online. I know that's not really the best situation for a first-time buyer, but I can't help it. I'm just going to have to deal with the problems that arise in the best way I can.
We have two motorcycle dealers in my area that sell scooters. One is a Suzuki shop that sells Kymcos. The other shop sells Hondas and Yamahas. I'd really prefer to buy a used scooter of one of those brands, but even the couple of used ones they have are out of my price range, and financing isn't an option for me.
Before I found this site, I read a lot of posts on your old forum and I noticed a couple of online dealers who were recommended, and I also noticed some who weren't. Valley Scooters seemed to be one that everyone agreed was reputable, and I'm looking at a couple they have for sale.
Another dealer, Extreme-Scooters, has a deal that's interesting and I wanted to see what y'all thought about it. They have a Tank 150 Touring Deluxe for $1099 delivered and it has a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. Is this a good buy? I don't know much of anything about Tanks.
Thanks in advance for any information you can share, and if you have some other ideas that I should consider, please let me know about them.

Hello, everyone. I will be buying my first scooter soon, so I have lots of questions about brands, dealers, difficult repairs, etc. Hopefully I'll be around for a long time to come and I look forward to meeting each of you. I don't know much about this subject, so any knowledge you can share will be much appreciated.
